Disassembling 1977 GL1000 gauges

I found some videos to help with disassembling gauges, but not one specifically for my bike. I know different bike have different methods of removing the trip reset knob. I don't see any set screws and turning backward isn't working. Whats the secret?

Really on tight. You have to open it up, hold the shaft inside with a pair of needle nose, and turn (clockwise, I think). I believe they helped with some glue.

Speaking of busting a couple, Where would I source one if I broke it.

Unfortunately, Pistol Pete doesn’t do gauges anymore.

Once you have it disassembed enough, you have to work a pair of needle-nose pliers in to hold the shaft.
