I'm looking for some options and some education...

The 1100 calls for Dot 3 and the 1200 calls for Dot 4. On my 1100, I am going to leave the front calipers as stock 1100 but the rear caliper, I am changing to a 1200 caliper. I would rather not have to use two different brake fluids, for the front and rear breaks and not to mention the clutch fluid, so what do I need to do to convert everything to Dot 4?

when I got my first '79 cb750 it called for dot4 brake fluid and my '75 called for dot3. like you brian I wanted to only have to buy only one which ended up being dot4. even though the '75 had fresh brake fluid in it the dot4 made the lever feel firmer and the brakes worked just fine. with soo much dot4 in the garage some of it made its way into my cars and my van which was just mixed with the dot3 that was already in them, they never had a problem with the mixture of dot3 and dot4, what can't be mixed with either is dot5 brake fluid

You CAN mix 3 & 4. :eek:k: The only difference is 3 boils at a lower temperature, my brakes never get very hot, at least not for any length of time. :heat: Used 3 for years when 4 was a lot more with no issues, & brakes worked fine. :good: The 3-4 has been around for at least 10 years now, costs about the same as the 3 did before + everything costs more. :whistling:

I always thought you could mix not dot 3 and dot 4. I guess not.

I guess I should read what I write before I hit submit...
