RIDE MOTORCYCLES INC on ebay is selling "brand new" DUNLOP Qualifier 130/90-17 for 48.00 plus shipping.
BUT! when I got mine the date stamp is WEEK 39 OF 2003! Ive opened a case but they are a**holes on the phone (I gave them a damn good one back too). they will not refund or anything. Advertised brand new when its 8 years old. I cant use that it's dangerous ain't it?
They said because it's never been on a bike and kept in a warehouse it's still brand new. RIDE MOTORCYCLES INC on ebay. Very dishonest bad people beware!

Im gonna put all kinds of craigslist ads up and put that guy's phone number and name up just for fun now. I know it's childish but I can be so very creative. Ira Sprouse is now gonna be selling boats, cars, bikes, real estate..........

I'll do our part.
Tonight there will be a sticky thread in the for sale forum listing black listed eBay sellers.

The tire is technically still new, since it has never been mounted, however....a more fitting description would be "NOS"...New Old Stock....
I think legally, there is no problem. A new tire is a new tire. The manufacture date is irrelevant when selling, tho it may be just a bit chicken s :sensored: t to not specify it is an older dated tire.

I'd be twisted, too, but I don't know if there is anything legally that can be done, other than spreading the word about the seller... :Awe:

I know it's recommended that tires manufactured recently be used to avoid any risk of tire failure. I also know I've never once checked the date of manufacture on any of my car tires. Tires I've trusted many years to transport both myself and my family. I've never had one fail abruptly. I've also seen many ride motorcycle with tires that would scare me. Still not heard of any abrupt failures or accidents attributed to tires.
So I will agree "new" should be "recent manufacture" it generally is not. NOS is a term used almost exclusively in motorcycling supplies. If I could get "never used" tires at a substantial discount I might be willing to run them. I would probably watch them very closely for quite a while. Tire technology today is really providing very dependable products for all vehicles now. I have no fear riding any of bikes and have yet to look for manufacture dates.

I would probably run it. It's unblemished and not stiff. Yes I'd feel pretty safe using it. Would I put it on a bike someone else is to ride? Maybe not. Bottom line is it's your choice. I would contact the manufacturer and see if they will still back the tire. If they say it's good I'd pop it on and ride.

just got off the phone with Dunlop. Well left a message, it's outside normal business hours. I will not mount this till I hear back from them and ebay resolution. if they dont make it right then Im just stuck I guess. I'll be ordering a new one, 60 bucks aint worth dyin for

I've already said I haven't checked the dates on my tires. Has anyone here checked the dates or just ride until it needs tread?

I agree there. Sounds like a very good plan.

Open up the item and on the right hand side of the page you will find three small boxes the bottom one is "Other item Info" what is the transaction item number?

Did you pay with PayPal? if so you can open a dispute (Item not as described). If PayPal agrees with you they will refund your money and take it out of the Venders account - you have 30 days to open a dispute (its worth doing you will find they are quite fair)

Kinda makes you wonder how many they sold, they finally got a smart guy that actually reads the lettering and understands what all the numbers mean, many do not, they get their tires and slap them on and away they go..It's good you caught this and reported it to this site, Now we all can very careful about this when buying a [new] tire.. that's just false advertising man..
