Emblems on side covers, how to remove?

Hey Guys,
We need to (carefully) remove the emblems from the side covers of my buddy's 84 Aspencade.
Are they glued on? Just pressed into the holes in the side cover?
How do we get them off without damaging the emblems?

On my 83 they have a round clip on the back side. I think every one of the pins broke off the emblems when I tried to remove the clips.

Look closely at the inside of the covers. If the pins go through and they have never been off there should be a tint sheet metal sleeve around the pins holding them. Sometimes you can push each pin a little at a time to get them off. This old though they may be glued or taped in place. Just work them a little at a time and see what does the trick. Patience is key here.

If someone glued them use some light fishing string and see if you can cut through with it.

If they have the metal circular clips...someone posted on here that they cut the carefully cut the clips off & bought new ones (don't know where the post is)
