The following are video's of the noise it made followed by a tear down with photos of the main bearings.
Noisy start ups:
Rough running when cold:
Loud rapping noise that shows up above 3000 RPM:
Tracked it down with no load on the engine in this video (listen at 0:45 seconds and 1:03 seconds):
Bearing conditions, sloppy piston pins:
Lots of wear on the piston skirts (#2 & #4):
#1 and #3 upper rod bearings:
