1999 Valkyrie Standard, modified... but aren't they all?
On a horse with a bad name... through the back door. And I say this because my first posting was a reply... and intro, but maybe I can brush that under the rug for now... I'm Bud to my good friends, many other things and names to other than good friends, but I digress.
My current ride is a '99 Valk, which I saw referred to somewhere in here as "not yet a classic", however I beg to differ. I saw this bike as a classic when it first hit the market in '97, which is why I dove deep into research on every detail and vowed to buy my own about 20 years ago. The longest I've had a bike, and I've had dozens, including a '77 GL1000 that I bought wrecked and perfected, a '77 KZ1000LTD, '86 ZX900, '80 CB750C, '82 CB650C Nighthawk, '66 CL77 305 Scrambler (built w/ a Rocky 337 hi-perf kit), '72 BSA 650 Lightning, several CB350's to include a 350-4... anyway, it's a long story. I've been a member of VRCC for many years, ridden with Goldwing clubs and Patriot Guard Riders, and have known and ridden with other club members who's names and affiliations shall remain unspoken to protect the innocent and not so innocent.
So Greetings to All in Classic Goldwing Country, we share a sacred bond with one of the best designed and built machines ever to be born in America (to Japanese parents). And I pray for the day that it's born again here, after being chased out of Ohio by an unscrupulous scheister, only to skip the 2011 edition then sprout into a weird anime version later in Japan. Hi.:D:cool:

Hey, you never said your horses name?!

Welcome to the forum, Bud.
The Horse's Name... well, over at VRCC we'd actually call her a Dragon, sometimes fire-breathing, but I call her my fat black lady, named in part after my first dog that I can remember as a child, a beautiful (and tough as hell) german shepard named Thunder... So, it's "Thunderdog".
I'll post pics when I get a chance, but she's currently trapped in an inaccessible storage location (blocked by a former roomate's stuff) waiting for me to finish a ridiculous, over-complicated guage-set that I began building a year or so ago. I'll post pics of the gauges when I get a chance soon, they're all digital, full instrumentation, which these bikes never had, except the Interstate version. She's also getting dual LED headlights, my own fabricated sequential turn signals, and a bunch of other wild stuff... no incandescent lightbulbs, only LEDs. The rear of the bike is already pretty custom with that beautifully styled fender shaved so you can see the entire shape of it. No frame mods on this one, just lowered a little.
Anyway, it'll be much clearer when I can get to it and take pics. I'm under the gun to finish this project and get it rolling and ready for trips already planned for me this summer by the "powers that be"... no getting out of it.
