My 12 year old daughter and I went for a road trip and went camping last September. We visted Cape May, NJ and the surrounding roads (use to live there years ago!). Here are some pic's:

That looks like so much fun! I wish I could have done the same when my daughter was 12. How did your bike run? Sure looks nice loaded with gear.

~O~

Randy, It was definately fun! The bike was loaded and crammed in every compartment and really road nice! When we got home and emptied the bags and the faring, it filled the back of my station wagon!

The first time jake and I camped with the bike I didnt have the trailor,it was may,and we went up north to baldwin(MI).
I had 1 small sleeping bag and small pillow in each saddlebag, duffle bag and a few odds and ends in the trunk, and the tiny tent rapped in a thick blanket on the rack.

It was 38 degrees and rained that first night,I apparently grew some since the last time I tried on one of those little sleeping bags....needless to say I froze for 2 nights (I did make sure the boy was as warm as I could, just to save my marrage).

After that,I came home ,built a trailor w/cooler,bought an air matress,2 new jumbo bags,a small heater, and a bigger tent. :music:

Now where talking.

The cold can be a problem if you are not packed for it.

We had the following gear:

4 person tent
2 sleeping bags
2 pillows
Oil lantern
Queen size automatic mattress (pump built in, just push a button!)
7" DVD player with movies (in the true spirit of the BSA!) (An aside, when I was in the boy scouts, our troop had a motto, "A TV in every Tent!" Troop 593 Philadelphia Council)
Extra sweatshirts
C-Pap machine (If you have to ask, you don't need to know!)
Cameras and camcorder
flashlights
Shaving and personal kits
First aid kit
And a partridge in a pear tree!

Those aftermarket Hondaline trunks really hold a lot of stuff and the Vetter faring is open inside all of the way around (Just have to watch the wires).

We left home, turned on the iPod and cruised!

I hope to be able to load the wing and trailer up this summer and take at least my oldest girl (5) camping. I've got all the equipment I need, but I have a hard time leaving the wife and the youngest girl at home.

The wife doesn't like the idea much either. I've been looking for an old wing to trike for her, but haven't run across exactly what I'm looking for or something I can afford yet.

Nice , we Camp a LOT ... but , in the Teardrop , I have never been Camping on a Motor cycle , wish my back was better so I could lay on the ground. . . . but . . . it sure looks like you had a great time. and a time you'll remember forever . :music:

Me and my son are leaving tomorrow morning, and camping tomorrow night. We are hiking some of the Appalachian trail.I wish it could be longer, but I've got to be back Tuesday. But before winter sets in good the whole family is going for 3 or 4 days.Dad-gum camera broke. So there wont be as many pics as usual, but ZI'll post some when we get back.

I have a Bi-pap,wife has a C-pap.First week or so drove me nuts. Now the kid's say our room sounds like some special effects for a horror movie. Our 2 yr old grand-daughter wont get near the door if she hears it.She thinks a alien lives in it at night with us. :smilie_happy: So when she is over they go up.

Enjoy your trip! This is the best time of the year for the Appalachian trail! We have our section of it in Pennsyvania!
