I have the nuts off of the final drive hub on the rear wheel of my '83 GL1100 Aspencade. I can't seem to get the hub to come off of the rear wheel, it won't budge at all with all the nuts removed. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a trick to it?

Pete, those 5 nuts are holding 5 studs in place, which in turn are "slid" into rubber bushings in the rim. They're supposed to have grease on them, but after 31 years, they get stuck. You need to pry back and forth and all around the flange to work it out. Put the nuts back on and torque 'em down first. It'll come out with a little help!

Well... I put the nuts back on and walla! The hub popped right out with a pry-bar. Thank you all for your help! Sometimes the obvious is way to easy to overlook, especially when you over-think things, like i tend to do.

This really works believe me!!

Lay a piece of ply-board on the ground, lift the wheel to about shoulder height and hold it horizontally over the ply-board, hub side down.

Drop the wheel onto the ply-board.

That puppy will pop right out.
