I recently picked up a 1984 Golding and I am finding a slight discharge of oil underneath just in front of the center stand about one inch. I am brand new to this engine and I figure it could be anything from the previous owner possibly having too much oil inside or it could be a bad gasket? When it is sitting cold it does not leak. Only when warm. Experience anyone?

Well there are 2 covers there get oil as well as the center seam.
Only way I've ever found oil leaks is by cleaning the engine real good then run/ride it and keep checking where it's wet.
When riding, an oil leak up front can blow to the rear and drip so keep a watch up front also.

I think oil is dripping from one of those little bolts towards the left side of the picture. Perhaps it is coming or flowing from some other portion further forward. Not sure.

Looks like there's a big glob of sealant on the clutch cover, at the far upper left of the photo. Maybe an attempt by the PO to stop the leak. That would put the leak just forward of the center stand.

I do know that two previous owners before me did switch out the alternator or stator or whatever that common problem is. I know they had to drop the engine for that. That might explain that weird red glob of sealer on the upper left of the pic. But I am not convinced the oil is coming from there.

That sealant is most likely a tell-tale of what the problem is. A gasket didn't seal the rear case properly so sealant was used to fix the problem half-@$$ed rather than pulling the engine to change the gasket again.

I had the same puddle of oil under my engine at the same spot after changing the rear case gasket last summer. That is why I have the motor out right now. :head bang: My leak was coming from the split line of the rear case.

Might just have to clean it real well then run it a few minutes and check for seepage, there is also a oil catch container just behind the clutch that may be full, least the 1100 has one.

Look at water pump weep hole, had em leak oil & not coolant, & will blow back.

Where do I find this water pump weep hole?

Weep hole is just behind the thermostat housing on the bottom of casing.
Oil or water can leak out there. My gl1100 that I'm working on was leaking oil out the hole.
Water pump as 2 O-ring's, one is for oil seal and one for water seal.

I don't think the water pump weep hole would make that puddle that you are seeing. If your water pump were leaking and oil was blowing back, oil would be dripping every where when the bike is stationairy and you would think your bike is a hazmat spill site. That puddle is at the rear case or clutch case split lines.

Mine didn't leak much at all, some blow back & drip just behind pump area, & later a drop at & behind weep hole after sitting.

I took this video tonight after about an hour long ride. I found out halfway through that the hiss I was hearing was the fuel pressure I think. It went away after I turned the fuel valve off.

I took the video about 15 minutes after I was riding. I did not see any dripping. I did go back out a couple hours later and did find just a little amount then. I am not entirely convinced it is actual oil. Seems a bit lighter than I would expect, but I suppose it could still be oil.

That one lower bolt head had a drop of oil on it.

Yes it did. Still sure if that is local or if its coming from somewhere else and maybe dripping from that point.

I'm still wondering about the clutch slave cylinder. It has all that sealant packed on the bottom of it. Has your clutch fluid level dropped at all? It would also be thinner viscosity than oil, as you mentioned...
