well kind of first road trip. as many of you know i got my nephew charles aka dewey riding on the 450 niighthawk, hes's been riding up and down the block since last tuesday. yesterday he took his first road trip of eight miles. this road has stop signs, curves, stop lights, train tracks, light traffic, and the speed limit is 30mph which means we were doing 35. he did great and i can tell by the big sh^t eatng grin on his face he liked it. more training to come and the mfs class

And another rider is born!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
It's kewl that you're taking the time to help get "Dewy" started on 2 wheels. :eek:k:

I remember my first ride..... It was no a Harley for about 2 seconds... I was on the back seet and my cousin dumped the suiside clutch and me at the same time...took another year before i got on another bike :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

That sure sounds like fun.

Remember your first days on a bike? I sure do!
What an experience that was!
To this day I love it just as much.
well i did get dewey a ct 70 when he was was about 12yrs old but he didn't seem very interested in it. as for rememberinmy first ride i sure do in was on my '70 candy blue and white z50a and i rode streight into my mom's six foot tall rose bush :sensored:

My first ride was on my first bike, a Honda S90. The guy I bought it from brought it over and put it up on the center stand (it didn't have a side stand) on our patio. I finally got it off of the stand and kinda road it around the back yard. I remember it felt real heavy compared to my bicycle, it steered like a truck and I was regretting buying it. My mom stuck her head out the back door and said, "Don't ride that thing on the grass!" I took it out on the street and everything changed. I've been hooked ever since.

Hay... I think I saw you on Americas funniest a few years ago :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:
it was no laughing matter at the time but its darn funny now. i took him out riding saturday, 47 miles. we were riding along when i read a sign that said " construction ahead" insted of " your in the construction zone. " and the only place to go was on the expressway. you guys know i didn't want to take dewey on the expressway but with no choice and the next exit less than a mile away i figured it would be ok. well i was proven wrong when dewey came off the expressway with the front tire nearly flat. we headed just east of the expressway to a gas station and aired up the tire and it was holding air, no leaks but i don't trust the tire and tell him to follow me home. once there i pulled the front wheel off to find the valve stem was bad and the speed on the expressway caused it to flex enough that most of the air leaked out. a quick trip to the shop to have the valve replaced and dewey has been back on the road ever since

i had no plans to take him on the expressway so soon and as he picked up speed the tire lost air and he slowed down. i guess giving him the book " proficent motorcycling " to read was a good thing to do. my other nephew jerry will be reading the book too
