need to do something about the stock setup, i'm 6''2" with ~ 35" inseam

i have floorboards now but pretty much have to use the heel part of the heel toe shifter for up or down shift, i use my heel underneath the heal shifter, to downshift

pretty comfy on the floorboards but a royal pia to reach the front or toe shifter and have to move my foot quite a bit to reach the heel part

so going forward, first plan is to add alum tabs to the heel toe shifter so i can shift from the comfy position of the floorboards

then i need something farther out front (got pegs right now) when stretching out and want controls there too, pia to go back and forth or having to go back for a shift(ting) or brake

prob mount it on some crashbars, that took alot of investigation to find the right ones

stock crashbars don't work for me at all, totally in the way with the floorboards, ended up trying to mod and cut them to fit,
but just noticed the stock 83 guards are distinctly diff and might work for part of it

1st question, can i tie in the master cyl on the forward controls, perhaps with a splitter, into the stock 82 setup? so i can brake from either there or the usual spot

looking at these, they go for ~ 300 bucks, also looking at cheap universal kits out there typically advertised for classic triumph brit bikes

cars have dual brake setups (driving instructor types) so do planes

this is the diff with the typical engine guards between 83 vs earlier, which carried over to the 1200 line, there is a front connector piece top to bottom (middle pix)

i know that with planes, typically each pedal has a master, so 4 altogether but not sure how they are split side to side, think there is a one way check valve splitter involved

dunno how the dual car brake is setup, could just be a physical or solid connection

either way, if mounting a dual master cylinder is problematic, then i'm sure i could make a solid connection with the stock brake pedal. to make it work

here are some universal kits out there

pricey id say ....ive got one frame with forward bar weled to frame and waiting for forward controls added to it ...its beens yrs since i set it up for me ...the best hiway bars for sure ...ineed to finish it

some ideas here as far as hooking stuff up, i will cut up my new engine guards similar to the way he did (i wont be cutting off as much), that's about where my feet end up naturally siting on the bike, good position for city driving requiring lotsa shifting,
as mentioned , tried that with the original guards but they didn't connect at the front (80-2), top to bottom

the pix that are relevant here are the 3 near the top under the title
Goldwing Jockey Shifter Fabrication/ Installation

good pix here as far as linkage ideas goes, under the tittle (bit lower down the page)
The actual design of my jockey shift only entails FOUR parts:

not sure if i can or should link to the pix without permission

When I worked for AMC way back in the 80's, we serviced a driving school fleet. The passenger side gas and brake pedals are just mechanical crossover connections not separate wet systems.

I've thought of the dual controls issue before myself. My conclusion is to use a selector valve, either mechanical or electro-mechanical.

Selector valve that I found is a push/pull small one with either a knob or clevis. Electro-mechanical would have switches and a relay automatically choosing which pedal to signal from.
How that signal is determined - I haven't worked that out just yet... microswitches? miniaturized optical curtains? pressure sensors? ...lotsa ways, I'm sure.

I would not mind a nice set of comfortable highway pegs.

I do like to be able to move around a bit while riding, especially if the ride is over an hour or more, with no stops.

I dont like to ride in any one position more than an hour, I like to move around.

Someone made a really nice set of forward controls, I want to say i saw them on NGW site, I remember that I was impressed, that was a while back.
