full throttle noise 2+4

wound it up hard in second after seeing sum split tail... now under full throttle i have a noise from the left bank,, sounds like spark when when it grounds out,, but it's not consistant,, and the bike's not missing. im not sure how to fix this,, because too dangerous to find it riding... it does it consistantly ,, but the noise is inconsistant. sounds like spark jumping... ??

hmmm sounds like it would miss if spark was it ...could it be pinging cause the advance is not doing right ....but old wires and ends are huge problem on these bikes with so many yrs on them coils to

its a click,,, click click,, ... or snap like spark noise... i guess i will check comp.. hope it's not to serious like a hole in piston. very hot out here,, maybe shoulda been more careful... na.

When mine is hot and I load it hard I get plenty of ping when it's hot outside, I've also heard a preignition knock at times which is MUCH louder. Scary really.

Could be a spark plug wire is loose in the plug end (very common problem). Also, if you have OEM exhaust, the chrome outside cover tends to loosen over time and make a loud tapping when hot.

Here's one for ya... It could be the vacuum slides in the carbs rattling around..

If they are all nice and loose and free to go up and down like they should, the noise might just be the slide piston hitting the top of the slide cover...

these bikes are so quiet ,, i hear everything,,.. looked at the spark plug wire cover-chrome cover over plugs,,... looks like maybe sum spark hit it... was a small whitened spot.. fitted sum duck tape up in there,.... and yes,, someone said if plug boot not on 100%,, noticed that... drove it w/cover off,, seemed fine.... i need to kewl my jets im really diggin this ride.. and too those who say they don't have enuff power??? wtf? pretty sure mine would eat harley's for lunch.... thanx all

Ha! ya it was,, it also could have been those oem hot pipes someone mentioned.

Its really hard to beat these japanese machines....I have a set of cobra pipes on my roadstar and it sounds way better than most harleys with drag pipes...and my gw with the homemade exhaust and harley mufflers....sounds just like a harley....without the oil leaks and shop time every couple weeks!!!!

Synch your carbs and adjust your valves before worrying about anything else. Both will give you the noise you are describing.

Dont know if my 1200 can but I would put my pink slip up on my Scooter!!

Might also be a minor exhaust leak causing the snapping sound.
