Most of you now that I've recently reclaimed my Old 1978 GoldWing that I had to sell in 96.
In thinking back on all the fun I had with this bike. The touring I've done on it. The weekend rallies I used to go to. I had an old canvas Boy Scout pup tent that went many miles on the back of that wing that a friend gave to me. So quick & easy to set up.
Then came the 95 SE & the camping trailers. I've owned 3 of them. Then comes the motorhome...& the Maxi Scooters. Don't get me I love my Scoots, They are such a blast to ride. I call my 650 Burgman My GoldWing lite "More fun with less weight"
Yet somewhere along the line I quit touring. Seems whenever we go the bikes go on the trailer behind the cage or the old motorhome.

Now that I've recovered my old Goldwing it has also rekindled the urge to get back to basics. I'm going to go out & buy a tent & air matterss, Start doing weekend rallys again. Just do the stuff that seemed to get lost in the shuffle of life that I had so much fun with. I'm thinking very seriously of riding to the Classic GoldWing meet 2012. Maybe I can convince my riding Buddy to join me with his Classic Voyager. :moped:

That sounds good! I’ve done some self-supported bicycle touring, so motorcycle touring certainly appeals to me. Got the tent, got the sleeping bag, but need to acquire the air mattress.

I’m not so sure about the Classic Goldwing trip. It sounds fun, but not sure time would allow. I’m thinking about a trip to Nebraska and now that I know the bike is up to it, the possibility is more real. It might be time to start thinking about a trailer, though.

Yeah I'll tell ya, life sure has a way of getting in the way!

I had all kinds of plans last year to do weekend camping trips like your saying, even built a trailer and beefed up the hitch.

You are so right, get back to basics.
I need to do more of that!
