Went to fire up my 1100 today. The bike ran fine when it was well winterized. Installed the fully charged battery that was on a battery tender all winter in my basement. Removed the plugs and rotated the motor with the stator bolt on the back of the engine. When I hit the starter the lights dim and the starter does nothing. I did tap the starter with a wood block and hammer. It's about 35° in my garage. I have a torpedo heater going now aimed at the bike. Any suggestions or posts that I might want to read? The bike is an 80 with 24k that I have babied since about 1985.
Thanks

sounds like the battery or connections ... surely don't sound struck .. go direct to starter with kill switch on key off and see if starter works from jumping with car ... positive on starter ..negative to frame or battery negative ... is what id do to ck starter out

I'd check if starter solenoid is getting power when the button is pushed. Engine has to be in neutral or pull the clutch lever.
You should hear the solenoid click.
If yes then check for power at the solenoid post going to the starter, then at the starter itself.

Sorry for the alarm. I went out to the garage to poke and prod again. Forgot about the starter clutch interlock....daaa. spins fine when you do what you are supposed to do. Going back to turn on the petcock and see what I can accomplish today. Yipee scooter time!!

Happy guy. Went back to the garage and buttoned everything back up and it started right up and idled at 1000 rpm. Ya-who ride time. Thanks for your help. Just forgot about the interlock.

Just reflash the brain and check all the basics. Like kick stand up before riding off. Why won't the 91 CBR start? Kickstand is still down!!
