GL1200 LOWER ACCENT PANELS

Hello again,
I purchased these accent pieces that mount just above the pegs or boards and just in front of the side covers. These panels fit my bike ('85 Int) but there are no mounting tabs where the corresponding bolt holes on the pieces are. Does anyone know how these mount... do they fit only on certain gl1200 models or do they have there own clips or brackets that wrap around the adjacent frame members?

Possible they are LTD/SEI model, Not certain.

My guess would be you need clamps on the frame to bolt to.

I found the parts on "CMS parts for a better ride". This site contains blown-up diagrams of every area on any year or model of GL1200. They listed the parts on the schematics for '86 and '87 years but not for the '84 and '85. Now either Honda made slight changes to the frame to include threaded tabs or holes in "86 to accept these trim pieces or the pieces themselves came with their own hardware. Evidently this idea didn't come about till '86. So what I was wondering was if anyone out there that has a '86 or '87 GL1200 could tell me if their bike has fastening points on the frame where these parts would go? If so then I guess the trim panels are for sale as they won't work on the earlier year 1200's. Below are pics from the CMS site and a bike with them mounted. Thanks for any help. Steve

A guess? What does that help.
I'm sure someone with a 1200 would know. Maybe backlander.

Hmm I wonder if that piece you show in your location photo attaches to the emission collection box mounting bolt? .. at least on the front. Just thinking what was closest to that area..

I've never seen those panels on a 1200. I also don't see Honda on either panel front or back. In fact I see nothing to indicate their manufacturer. If I had such a set I'd make up some clamps of some kind.

the tabs are welded on my 87 A.

ahh the answer 87 oldwing last move in bodt work

they are accent panels and the chrome peice is a scuff plate for the shifter and brake.

Thanks for the info. Well since my bike ('85 I) doesn't have the tabs these will be for sale. Again thanks.
