I'm trying to find if anyone has knowledge of how to take the handlebar mounted radio tune/mute switch assembly apart? I've tried spraying cleaner into the assembly which made the tune switch move a little easier, but that's not the problem. Problem is that the 'down' function works, but the 'up' function doesn't work. I presume the 'up' contact needs to be cleaned because it's not making contact, but can't seem to figure out how it would be taken apart & then I would clean it. Someone put it together, it has to come apart.
Any help? Am I going about this wrong? Something else need cleaning (ha, that's a given)?

I have never seen that control unit. However. Some assemblies are done with hidden screws. Usually under a sticker of some kind. Others are simply snapped together and need pried apart. Some are glued and just won't open unless broken or cut. Good luck getting it fixed and back together.

Yea V I was probably figuring that a hammer will take it apart. I've had to glue the label back on when it fell off b4 & no luck, that I remember there being any screws behind it.

There should be a seam where the two halves meet. Try prying it a part in several places. If certain places are tighter than others that is probably clip or glue spots. Hammer is most likely overkill. Stuff like this I use a short blade pocket knife or the edge of a putty knife.

Just joking about hammer. There is what appears to be a seam, but I've had no luck with gentle probing in getting the seam to open at all. I'm kind of thinking it might be glued together. I guess what I could do is see if I kind find a functioning used part & swap parts, then try to open the original. I know in trouble shooting guide it states if not working replace switch. It's one of those things that doesn't cause a big problem, but it's one of those it should work properly. I was hoping someone had tried opening it up & knew the trick.

Contacted the ebay regarding testing of switch for function (per manual) the reply is that switch only has "tune down" function, that's worse than I have. Maybe I need to see if I can find one more broke, just to be the donor of tearing apart, to see how it goes together?

If you can find one broke for real cheap that'd be a way to find out how to get it open with minimal damage. Maybe the little sawblade on a dremel?

Yeah that's what I was thinking or heated knife (other than toxic plastic). Interesting that on the ebay page I asked about the test & checked the post for others to see, you can't see it now. They know now it's functionally not right, but price is the same. I'll keep an eye on & maybe offer $5 for it if it doesn't sell, or offer to take it off their hands for shipping, haha
