Hi Guys

Neil Rowe here. 62 year old bike fanatic and have been for the last 50 years. A mechanical engineer by profession, my hobby is restoring and riding old bikes from the 70's. I have been busy with 2 strokes lately and have restored a number of Yamaha RD's. 50, 350 and 400. Use the 400 and 350 whenever i can.

I recently acquired a 1977 Goldwing and i am starting to learn all I can about this iconic bike.

Joined this forum to learn from others and also to interact with fellow bikers from all over the world.

See you on the forum.

Regards
Neil

Welcome to classic Neil ....sheesh I would like to have a 2 stroke ...my favorite would be a x6 250 Suzuki ...the 77 oldwing is a rather unique bike as motorcycles go ....there really is no other bikes made like it ...it has its ups and downs about how it all works together ...but one of its ups can be they last forever if one gets to know it’s operation and upkeep level ..

Ah, the RD400. What a bike! But, not good for 2-up.

Not sure about parts availability there in SA, but I know there are quite a few GL1000s in Australia, and some very knowledgeable, friendly folks. My first GL was a '77, and was wonderful except for the pain it made in my back (between the shoulder blades). Turns out, a slightly different handlebar fixed that.
