Happy Memorial day, especially to all of you Vets out there that volunterily put your life on the line so that we as a nation can enjoy the freedoms that I hope we all cherish and never take for granted! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:  :yahoo:

For the rest of us, how are we spending our holiday? Going anywhere special? I am traveling to Connecticut for a wedding Saturday and on Monday my 12 year old daughter and I are going to take this baby out for a real ride! (Been a long time coming!)

Many gracious Thanks for ALL of those that made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us, and for those that are still out there keeping us safe, and FREE.

Spending as much of it as possible in the garage with the GL!

I had to ride out to the Bakersfield area to cover a birthday party. Me and my daughter make photos and videos for special events. However, they seem to be coming fewer and farther between these days. Nobody wants to spend the money and everyone tries to con me with a song and dance for next to nothing. My wife and kids drove over Thursday to help get everything set up for the party, and I rode the bike over Friday after work. Got up Saturday morning and started working. Finished up shortly after midnight and crashed out. Got up this morning and took my son to Zingo's Cafe. Then we gassed up and rode home through Hwy 166 to Santa Maria just because we haven't been that way since he was too little to remember.

Zingo's Cafe is my favorite eatery in Bakersfield. The waitresses look like old seahags, but the hospitality and service can't be beat, I don't care where ya go! And your belly hurts when you leave!

Isn't that the raod that goes by Spanish Ranch, New Cayuma ( home of the buffalo steak restaurant) into the backside of Santa Maria?? my brother lives in New Cayuma..

I will be going tomorrow to see the moving wall... it is in Farmers Branch in Liberty plaza if anyone in DFW area wants to have a look ... saw it a few years ago.. and missed the last couple of times it was in town..

Well on Monday my daughter and I took our first 150 mile trip with the transplanted '83 engine and the bike rode like a dream! We traveled to Lancaster, PA and stopped at the Strasburg Railroad to take a ride on the best steam trains in the country! (IMHO!) I finally have the confidence to take this machine any where across the country! My oldest daughter had her second baby over the weekend (baby girl, 6lbs,9oz for thoses that keep stats!) named Hannah Rose. She was born with a hole in her heart that may require surgery. (For those of you that will pray, they need prayers. Thanks in advance!) My wife is with them out in Ohio. When we all head out there as a family in July, I intend to ride the bike!

my prayers are with tnem and my thoughts of continous relationship with our father.....

hopfuly my time is flexable enough to maybe ride up to meet you in july gerry....sounds like a good enough reason for me.....

i was just there in ohio a few weeks ago to pic up the vetter bags and trunk from nakedtob it was about 300 miles .....but i just had to meet the guy that would just give me the vetter stuff to someone he didnt know.....that led to the purchase of the 82 1100 standard and 83 basket case and 1200 motor ....sometimes things that seem a little crazy are anything but crazy .....nakedtob is a swell guy and we talk for a couple hrs till the girls pried us apart .....i havnt mention his name on this deal thats going on till i get everything lined up on my part.....and he been so nice to to give me the time to bring my part together....

i sold a crane that i have and have had for yrs since im to old now to do anything with now ....time to turn it over to someone who is younger and can make use of it...

anyway i think meeting you gerry falls in that same category in my book....my prayers are with you and your family.....joedrum
