I am shopping for a helmet visor, looking for a tint maybe but I find all sorts, I can get light smoke but then there is Iridium, gold, blue, mirror etc. should I just go for the light smoke or is there another that is equal to or better to see through.
Thinking light smoke is the next step under clear but if there is an equal that works day/night that would be a bonus.
Thanks.

I`m leaning to clear, I have dark and wont wear it but I was thinking a very light tint I might like, hard to push sunglasses in my full face helmet.

I like the orange sunglasses for moderate days and they aren't bad at night. Never had a shield like that though so no idea. I've always just used the clear.

I am with clear but I wear glasses all the time and they are photo chromatic ( darken in bright light and clear at night). I prefer my Rjays modular tour tech helmets as you don't need to take your glasses off when removing/ wearing your helmet ( no more picking up glasses knocked off the tank/shelter) and I don't buy the helmets with built in visors when that is an option. When we were riding East into the morning sun on our 2013 ride I did what Randy said and taped up a section of the visor with electrical tape and that worked really well :good:

Clear is what I am going with, too expensive to buy twice, The tape is an option but some kind of actual tint would be a cool thing for the upper portion, too bad they don't have a graduated type shield, that would be cool.

The beauty of electrical tape Jeff is you apply it as required and it cleans off really quickly when no longer required. Too low, pull off that strip! Not low enough, just add more. :good:
And it's cheap! :yahoo:

my hjc ac-3 had a mirror face shield on it when I first got it and I liked it a lot day or nite but the mirror coating wore off and I replaced it with a dark smoke face shield like all my helmets have, even my new shoei qwest

I have the yellow tint on my visor and really like it. On my KBC helmet the tint part clips onto the inside of the visor so I can change the tint if I want. :good:

Thats nice, is that a universal device or made for that helmet.

There is a static cling sun shield for face shields out there. I forget who makes/sells it, but it fits across the top of the face shield..on when ya needs it, off when ya don't. It is a dark tint, but you can see thru it still. Handy for blocking thee blinding sun. Or...you could just use a small strip of regular window tint across the top of the face shield. :ahem:

It is a shame, my 1/2 helmet has a sun visor that is just awesome! But when you go to 3/4 and closed helmets, no sun visor. That sun visor is fantastic! (Too bad that open face helmet has so much buffeting at 75 MPH)

I'm pretty sure it's specific to KBC. The tinted inserts are just the right size and shape to engage some little "posts" on the inside of the clear face shield.

But the yellow tint makes everything seem brighter and clearer. Kind of weird. Yet it seems restful to my eyes.

I believe the post you are talking about are for a pinlock system found in many motorcycle helmets today:

Interesting, the Arai Quantum is the helmet I have, They say pinlock is standard on this model, have to go take a look.

YELLOW or ORANGE is what I like in my snowboard goggles and moto helmet. It doesn't make the darks too dark, it's acceptable for riding at night and does a good job of blocking oncoming headlamps glare.
