I bought some NOS chrome levers off Craigslist for $15. Now I want to install them, but I'm checking here because I can find nothing in the Black book or the Big Brown book on how to change these levers just exploded views. They look simple enough just one bolt each but the clutch has a part that looks like the end of a regular clutch cable that has me wondering what it is and if it is difficult to put in place in the new lever.

So, anyone wanna just tell me the trick to swapping out these levers? I don't assume anything is simple anymore, even if it looks simple.

Isn't your 1500 a hydraulic clutch, no cable. It should be loosen the locking nut and then undo the through bolt/ pivot and replace with your new one. Just make sure that the levers are the same Randy as there are some poor copies out there.

Here's a pic with the clutch lever on the left. Not sure what that hole is for.

HEY!!!!! Is that a Classic Goldwings Mouse pad???? Never seen that before!!! :music2:

lol, these levers are the same(at the business end) as the ones on the bike. I just don't know what that plug on the clutch side does or if it's easy to switch out. My clutch IS hydraulic and it has this plug like a cable end.

Not sure what the cable end would do either but if they are the same then OK..Remember after the nut comes off the bottom you have to turn the screw bolt to get it out, then should be an easy swap..Right.

The install was ridiculously easy, 60 seconds each and the odd bit on the clutch lever is just a pin assembly that actuates the hydraulic clutch.

Still, I love this bike and will ask what might seem to be the silliest questions to keep from doing her harm. :lust:

Better to ask how to do it before than how to fix it after!

My wife tells me it's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
