it's off to work I....SONOFABITCH!!!
Start new job Monday, so the plan was to load the toolbox on da trailer this mernin, and tote all my crap out to the new shop today. Up at 7a, eat a bite, hook da trailer up, and down to da storage to get the box loaded. That's a fun job, by yerself.....NOT! :nea: Winched it up, tied it down, and off I go like a herd of turtles. (O-man, here's yer free pass.... :ahem: )

Made it almost 10 miles down the innerstate, and I hear this "pop". Look in the mirror, don't see anything, so I keep trucking. Couple more miles, and a couple more "pops". So I pulls off the road and takes a look. Check tires on da truck and trailer(trailer tires are new), and don't see a problem. So off I go again. Get aboot 2 miles farther, and "KARBLEWY!!!" Rubber starts flyin from the driver side rear tire on the truck. I'm runin aboot 70mph, truck is loaded full of shop tools, and my small box is on da trailer. Oh what fun we're havin now! :nea:

Call the new boss and tell him I ain't gunna make it before 1pm, so it's gunna hafta wait til Monday. Call Mama to tell her I'm creepin to the closest exit, where there's a couple of truck stops. Pull in, and sure enough...all the rubber be gone from the tire. Nuttin but steel belts, but still holdin air.
Now...I gots a spare for the truck, but it's the one that was in it when I bought the truck....in '97  . I had actually checked it before I left, and it had air in it, but it wasn't completly aired up, and I wasn't aboot to stick it on the rear of the truck. There's a pay compressor at the fuel stop there, but...it don't werk. :head bang:
So now I gotta call Mama back and have her drive out to me. I keep a portable compressor in both the Cads, but I told here to check and make sure there was one in her car.....there wasn't. :Awe: I tell her to get the one out of the saddlebag on the Goldwing and bring it. In the meantime, I'm trying to jack this loaded 'Burban up with the cheesy factory screw jack. I'm taking one of the front tires off, putting the spare in that location, then putting the good front tire on the rear, where the rubber has vacated the premises. I got the front tires swapped out, and start jacking the rear of the truck up, and have to stop. It's only 99*, and ain't no shade.....I'm aboot to pass out, so I get back in the truck and blast the AC to cool down for a minute. That's when Mama shows up.
I manage to get the rear jacked up, and tires swapped back there, and plug the compressor in to put some air in the old spare that is now on the front. Took a while but it did air it up nicely.
Ease back to the house and start checking for new tires. Only place that had 4 truck tires in stock couldn't get to it until 4pm...it was 2pm by that time anyway.
I wound up having to back the dang trailer up in the driveway, which most of ya know is on an INCLINE. Blocked the tires on it, and disconnected it from the truck carefully.
Truck now has new tars on it. Morons at the tire shop installed one of the new tars on the spare rim, which is one of those gawd awful white wagon wheels...same that's on the trailer, except I have Cad wire wheel covers on the trailer rims. What was really kinda-sorta funny was watchin them ALL trying to figure out how to get the center caps off the rims. Really quite simple...caps are held on with 3, 1/2" cap screws....with slots for a screwdriver. So..you can use a 1/2" socket, OR a flat bladed screwdriver. Apparently, none of these kids had ever SEEN anything like it. One guy was fartin around tryin to get them off with a friggin crescent wrench, fer pete's sake! :Doh2: Oh yeah..they also managed to f up ALL of the lug nuts....so I now have LOCKING lug nuts on every friggin stud. They were nice, tho, and did give me a key for them.

Oh well.....if it tweren't fer bad luck, I'd have no luck at all....gloom, despair, and agony on me..... :fiddle:

Talk about a mix of good bad and worse news! Hang in there bud it'll get worse...er better. Or somethin'. :head bang:
