So...due to a puny budget for old girlfriend, I had to put off her last oil change for over a month. It didn't seem like that big a deal(it's happened twice before)until I started her up. What a difference, it was shocking how much the engine quieted down, enough so it was post worthy. Since the bike must have something like 290K miles on her now, I went with 20/50 instead of the recommended 10/40, if your girl has mega miles like mine I recommend the 20/50. Gone is the soft knock when pushing hard through 3rd gear, shifting has improved, and I think the low end power improved a little.

A question for the community: I know the same filter for our bikes is sitting on the shelf at my local Autozone for only $7, only under another part#. Have any of you taken the time to figure out what #(any brand) is a suitable alternative? If not I'll find out and post it here.

I'm heading into oil change time too, thanks for the reminder about how important it really is

I lifted this list from the NGWClub site https://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=7416

Oil Filter for GL1000 & GL1100
Honda Part #15410-426-010, 15410-422-004
FRAM #CH6009 (comes with both o-rings, $4-$5 locally)
Napa #PS4940
Purolator #ML16809
WIX #24940 (O'Reilly's)

There's plenty more crossover parts on that thread, well worth the read if you haven't seen it before.

I'm going to be creating a quick reference list of these specs in the near future for easy lookup to include such things as:

oil filter numbers,
valve gap
fluid quantities
tire pressure
air suspension pressure

etc.

Different years have different specs on some things so I might link to them in the Gallery where these specs already exist.

Sorry, Randakk spin-on adapter; #3615 Toyota truck filters from now on! :music:

Omega man, since I'm new here I don't know the history of your bike, but that's a crazy amount of miles. Have you done anything major to the engine during that run?

All I've had to do since taking ownership(possibly 8,9 or 10th owner) is replace the fuel pump and adjust the valves. Click the red link in my signature to see pics from the listing on Craigslist to today.
