Hello my 81 GL1100 is leaking a bit of oil from the inspection plate on the right side by the fuel pump. Would a high temp engine gasket maker work to seal this up? Suggestions appreciated thanks..

If you mean the oil screen cover plate, what Joe said! That sucks getting to it.

When I had the motor out it was easy to get to and I just ran a bead of RTV sealant around the o-ring to help seal it.

Thanks guys it wasn't that bad to get too just had to remove the fuel pump, which was also leaking a small bit of oil. Hope I got all the leaks sealed now.. Doing a 4000 km trip for our honeymoon in a few days down to the pacific coast hwy and back, didn't want any leaks if I could help it.. Thanks guys for the help!

Guys...he's not talking about the oil screen cover....he's talking about the access cover for the trans gear on the output shaft....

What specifically is that cover for?
It's there to cover the opening where the final output gear is installed during engine assembly.
