Is there any possible way to invert the carbs ona 83 gl1100 to where they are facing outward. I can kinda imagine how it would work im jus curious if its been done before?

It would be difficult, but not impossible. The throttle linkage would be tricky, since everything would be turning in the opposite direction. Also, the fuel supply and accelerator pump distribution would be a maze of tubing. Cool idea though!

That would make an already wide motor even wider. I think the term you want is reversed. Inverted is upside down. If it's just a cool unusual look you seek why not two pair of carbs off a newer twin? Or a forward facing rack off an inline four of similar size? All of these options are possible it seems but would be a lot of work for a little gain at most and no added simplicity. There are I'm sure many unusual ways yet to be tried. If you decide to undertake one. I'm sure you'll get some help here with your attempt.

I wuz gunna say just move to Australia.... :smilie_happy:

Other than making it easier to get to the carbs to work on them, and the neat/different look, I can't see any advantage to it, myself.... :headscratch:

Depends on your skills and wallet. Check out " spin them suckers around" by gregforesi. I saw another guy who had a set of 1200's on pointing out wards, but he was just messing with the looks. It would look different, but would require some major changes. I think when I set the elbows on backwards, the carbs don't line up together, so separate fuel supply, linkage and air supply questions, or adapted runners.

Wow. That link was fun for me to read that just tells me anythings possible thanks for sharing that with me

There are a few others there, but none I remember with them out. General wisdom says these carbs need the right size plenum. Ones who attempt to drop the plenum and use individual filters have less than ideal results. If you have change, I think Greg would sell his.

How much you think? If you could get me a price that would be cool. Thats definitely something ill be interested in.
