Bear meat is edible but definitely not my taste. I had bear steaks a few years ago. I much prefer venison and other game over bear. A few co workers are more fond of hunting than I am so they get their trophy and I get meat for my freezer.

I've had buffalo steaks and I'll tell, there is no comparison to cow! Buffalo for me!!

We have several restaurants around here with Buffalo on da menu. You ain't lived till ya had some kick azz buffalo fajitas! :good:

What are you going to hunt when there ain't no bears left. \how about bald eagles?

Since I started it, I guess I have to add my $0.50!

I never shoot anything that I will not eat with the exception of coyotes. I cannot stand the taste of rabbit, or squirrel so that explains why I do not hunt for those. If I shoot a bear, it will not be for a rug. Others may, but that is not the way I am... but, if the game is killed LEGALLY I really don't care what is done with it after it is killed.

Oh and Deer season starts next week, and you can bet I will be sitting in the woods next week also.

If it is done correctly as susage, mixed it with beef or pork, it is terrific!

When our family moved to the desert (rural Coachella Valley) I was 17 and thought I was fairly enlightened as to wildlife. Cycles of life and death as nature intended had yet to sink in.
Soon thereafter my younger brother and I followed (it was trying to flee) and stoned to death a large rattlesnake...because thats what your supposed to do to "dangerous" critters. Afterwards I couldnt shake the feeling that we had done wrong by natures' code, the snake was doing its best to get AWAY from humans which it surely felt threatened by. Im not against hunting for food or even to protect ones family but sport hunting seems so...antiquated? Whatever your sport, be safe and a Happy Holiday Season to you all.
