Sounds like the plan to me.....

Let's put the seniors in jail, and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the seniors would have access to showers, hobbies, and walks; they'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs, etc. and they'd receive money instead of paying it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly if they fell or needed assistance. Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them. A guard would check on them every 20 minutes, and bring their meals and snacks to their cell. They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose. They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool, and education.

Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, P.J.'s, and legal aid would be free, on request. Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens. Each senior could have a PC, a TV, radio, and daily phone calls. There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The "criminals" would get cold food, be left all alone, and unsupervised; lights off at 8 pm, and showers once a week; live in a tiny room, and pay $5000.00 per month and have no hope of ever getting out.

Justice for all. :hi:

Show me a jail with all that and I'll throw a brick through a window right now. :whip:
Come to NJ and PA, many of our jails are setup like that and monitored accordingly!

Touchy subject for me, so I'm going to keep my mouth shut. Check my profile and you'll understand.

~O~
Gotcha Randy! My wife is too and she worked long term care for years on the floor, meds, charge, MDS and so on. NJ does have good laws covering long term care facilities, but some facilities should be closed. On the other hand, our prison system does provide much of the list above guarranteed!

Apologies to anyone in the Health care industry!
There are good places and bad places for BOTH of the compared settings. And Yes, some prisons do allow access to PCs, and also allow prisoners to wear their own clothing, including pjs, if they wanted, tho I'd venture to say not many do! Well....there is a certain element of them that would....

Again, sorry if this offended anyone....

Didn't mean to derail the topic. I'll say this, if the long term heath care industry had the funding of the prison system, things would be very different.

well said ~O~ theres not a decent answer for there not to be as the thread indicates ......my wife is a RN nurse and worked for yrs as a DON and as a state servaiorer and realities of the plight of the elders and the theaf of there life belonging and porperty
and stripping of there rights and freedom is the most decusting thing ive ever seen in my 55 yrs of life .......

these so call care giants are nothing more than wealth grabbing corporate communist and its flat oyt discusting that this so called
gov of and for the people allow this to happen in the name of care for our elders .....this is the one overwelming thing that proves this country has nothing to do with the people its suppose to serve ....our gov is nothing more than than a parisitical decease that
there is no treatment for .....anything that man dose without god in them is always a crime against humanity.....

my wife dosent work in the system no more and hasnt for decade and some ....thank god...he is my only care giver :hi:

I too have a vested interest in the plight. Before finding my current job as a private duty nurse, I worked in long term care facilities, as they like to be called here, for most of what has been my short career. I am a LPN, or LVN however you want to look at it, but I have seen more than my fair share of things that need to be corrected. It's really something when the families of the "residents," we can't call them patience as that is no PC, call you at home to find out why you haven't been taking care of their family member, and when they ask at the "facility" they can only hear "Well, they no longer work here." They get no explanation past that, and when you get that call at home and explain the situation, they want to call the state board of health for you. Believe me, this has happened before. I've been ask to work every day, by family members not my workplace, because they felt that I was the only person there that actually cared. It's a sad state when someones loved ones are left in the care of a snot nosed teenager who can barely spell there own name, but it's ok because they passed what the state requires and they are cheap labor. Don't get me wrong some of the nurse's aids that I've worked with genuinely cared for their people, but there are some that the patients were better off being left alone in my opinion.

I have been offered a job in a private prison before, and it was mainly because of my size more than my skills at the time. It amazed me to see that the prisoners there were getting better care than the people I took care of on a daily basis. Since when did the criminals in this country become more important than the people that worked all of their lives to keep it alive? There have been many a day that I have thought about changing my profession, then I begin to think that if everyone just stopped because they didn't like what was going on, how would anything get done.

Okay off my soapbox, and back on topic.

No apologies needed as far as I'm concerned.
