Must of picked it up somewhere today. Got a 1/2 in vertical gash near the middle of the tire. It gets smaller as it gets deeper. Thinking about patching it from the inside till I found a great deal on dunlop k627 for $65 shipped.

What do you guys think about the k627? 130 90-17 is what I want right?

Any Suggestions for a reasonably priced tire? Any experience with kenda and shinko?

Randy

I hear good things about the Shinko 230 I think that's the next tire I'll get.
I've got the Dunlop 404's now, I have no problems with them but I hear they aren't good for the heavy loads of the Goldwing I haven't done any heavy touring yet so it hasn't been an issue.

I'm hearing good things about Shinko's also and wouldn't hesitate buying them but do check the weight rating as compared to other more expensive tires and able to carry what you expect to load the bike to.

One of the guys at the shop here rides a 500 Kaw, and he's got new Kenda tars on it, but he's a cheap-a$$, so he went for the absolute cheapest tars he could find locally. They look ok, far as I can tell, but don't know how dependable they are. The ones he got do have a groove in the center, and I warned him aboot the chance of them wandering on the hiway grooves...

I have a Kenda challenger on the back of my 83 and I don't like it. The side walls are to soft for my liking. the Dunlop is the way to go IMO.
Sucks about your tire getting cut like that. Best of luck

Tom

I put shinko 717?? on mine and like them so far.... Shinko is a up and coming racing tire firm and is getting good reviews from the racers..

Here is the only photo I have of the rear right now.. ( I have others.. need to import them) ... nice deep treads.. front is in the rear of the photo.. (these were before I mounted them on the bike.. )

Ended up getting the Shinko Tourmaster for $65.00. I also ordered a work apron and with free shipping over $75.00. The local shop wanted almost double that for another dunlop 404 plus installation with me removing it from the bike.

I found this tutorial https://www.clarity.net/~adam/tire-changing-doc.html so I am going to change it my self. In the time it takes me to drive to the honda shop, wait and drive back I can have it changed and back on the bike.

Well got the tire on yesterday. Once I got the 14" rim set up and cobbled up a bead breaker it was easy. Just used this link as a guide. https://www.clarity.net/~adam/tire-changing-doc.html

Ended up costing me about 1/3 of what the local shop charged me to install a dunlop 404.

That's a nice guide I like securing the wheel to the rim.
With you doing it you know it's done right and with the money you saved you can buy more tools or more parts.

I said I put Shinko's 717's on mine.. in fact they ARE 712'S.. and I am satified with them in the several months they have been on.. Great way to go.. I am finding it easier to Justify someone else doing some of the work.. (swapping tires on rims.. etc.. ) tinmw and sweat factor with no enclosed space to work..

sorry about ur mishap, i had a flat the very first day i drove a motorcycle what luck lol,,wheres a good place to order shinko tires from?
