I bought my Roadsmith Trike a little more than a year ago. My PO wasn't big on Maintenance Records and I've discovered that "no records" means "no maintenance". I did a little maintenance last week and replaced the oil and all 5 of the various filters. I've decided that records are part of my maintenance and I've vowed to keep them.

I have to admit, I am not very good about keeping records but I am trying. I keep everyting locked away in the steal sieve I call a brain.

Actually, I have a piece of masking tape on the inside of the tool tray that I have milage of timeing belt change due written on and oil changes I do them every 3000 miles and just know when the next one is due. Other maintenance (fluids) gets done Veteran's Day weekend.

I'm just hopin my old Cowsills records will be worth something someday..... :beg:

Sorry...I just coudn't help meself...it was too easy..... :smilie_happy:

Keep records of maintenance? Now there's a concept! The only records I keep now are receipts....but no oil change info, or anything like that....

I have posted a spreadsheet that I use for maintenance records that tracks the past history and provides the upcoming maintenance. I uploaded it as a PDF at one point, but I can send it to anyone via email.

When using normal oil filters I like to mark the change out information on them. That way there is never any confusion when it was last done.

I don't even remember to write down miles at fill up. I haven't a clue what mileage any of my vehicles get.

On our bikes, we don't have to write down the mileage at fill up, we have that cool trip odometer. Set it to zero at fill up......ride........use up gas.........fill up again to the same spot (I always fill to the bottom of the filler neck) and then divide the miles shown on the trip odometer by the gallons added and voila.........MPG!

well Gerry you got to still turn the knob ....oh and by the way ...the hard one always you have to look at it the next time you get gas ...sheesh ive never made it there yet  :whistling:

But... in order to calulate mpg one must be smart. I needs to be naked to count to 21 so that trip meter really doesn't help much either! :smilie_happy:
