...before you guys say anything, let me just say that it was chilly this morning when we left. 8AM and 37F degrees - and the "F" doesn't stand for fahrenheit in this case!
My Valkyrie riding buddy (we've probably logged 10,000 road miles as a team here in the Western USA), put 155,000 miles on a '98 Valkyrie he bought in 2001. While he also owns an '05 Goldwing and a '11 Concours, the Valk is his true love. So, he found a nice, low mile '97 in Virginia (recall we're in Arizona) in the Forest Green and Cream color combo. Supposedly fairly uncommon. He had to have it, so paid shipping to get it trucked out here. Came with carbs all jacked up. We have spent two weeks struggling to get them sorted. Getting close, and certainly close enough for a ride today.
So, we headed down to Coolidge, AZ to a nice little diner called Tad's. Great food, good ride and "he says", knocked some of the cobwebs off that "new" machine. (Mine has zero cobwebs that needed knocking). By the time we rolled back into town, the temperature had shot up to 60F - at which point the "F" begins to indicate fahrenheit, once again.
A good day. Maybe tomorrow I'll take the '78 out. Supposed to be over 70 tomorrow. (I'll leave later in the morning, for sure).
