I’m sure SOMEONE in here has a tip or a trick to get the heads off one of these old girls...I’ve got the six head bolts removed off the 1200 and the water jacket single bolt but they’re stuck..:SO before I hit it with a BFH I figured I’d drop the post and see if there’s an easy way ha!

Repeated blows with a dead blow or rubber mallet has worked for me. Remember that there are dowels that prevent it from moving sideways. Block of wood (2x4) against the intakes/water fitting. Bolt on the bottom between the exhaust ports that seals the oil return out?

Are you saying the heads are stuck to the block?

Note that there are dowel pins between the heads and the block, so be careful.

Just like he said, that, a 2x4 and a good hammer will get em to move too, with a friend to catch it.

Main thing though is with re-installation, don't do it without replacing the oil orifice O rings, Pointy end out!

And at least buy some close to OEM head gaskets.

I'd say, replace them if damaged. If they're still nice and round, why?

The lack of compression and a few kissed exhaust valves later is why they’re being replaced. I bought a set of heads and had them rebuilt, decked and ultrasonically cleaned down here for $50 a head so not a single complaint...Once these are off and the new heads go on these will get the same rebuild.

Make sure you remove the bottom 6mm bolt by the exhaust posts. Forgetting it will result in a cracked head when you exert too much force removing the head. Bitter experience. :builder: :cheeky:
