Been thinking about posting this for sometime, hope some of you find it interesting. Any way we need a bit of a back story. My wife and I bought our first house back in the early 1980's. Back then mortgage rates in Canada were 23% which was far out of our reach. We did however find a small little house in a village near where I grew up with an assumable mortgage of 11%. So we managed to get a down payment and were able to buy it. The house has a basement which was divided into a utility area and a second smaller area where the PO had put up some paneling and made it into a small rec room. In the summer before AC it was a fairly nice place to spend some time. I added some of my own touches such as a beer frig and TV. After about 5 years in this house we decided to add an addition which is as large as the existing house and has a large basement rec room of it's own. The two basements are not connected so the old small rec room quickly became a storage area. Months would go by without me going down there. As the years passed I forgot about most of the things I had added.

Last April I mentioned to my son that I would like to find a Goldwing to fix up and ride as gas was going through the roof and I had sold my KZ1000 the previous spring and I was feeling the need to ride again. I had also always wanted a Wing but had never owned one. My son had a friend who had a Wing in good shape that had been stored for the last 3 years as the boy could not afford the insurance and frankly I think the size of the bike scared him. I ended up getting this bike from him and with the help of this site got it running pretty good and I have been riding it back and forth to work since mid May.

A few weeks ago I went down into the old basement rec room looking for something and to my surprise on the wall was a poster of a Goldwing that I had put up there at least 25 years ago! I don't remember where I got the poster but the bike staring back at me looks almost exactly like the bike I just bought. Here is a picture of the poster and below is a picture of my Wing. I think it is great that for all those years I had the poster before I actually got the bike. I think this goes into the Life is Strange catagory, thanks.

Strange things happen in life.
I find these things happen for a reason.
Call it destiny, fate, probably a hundred other things but I think it remains that what you do will come back to you both good and bad.
In this case it looks like all good!

Funny how that works.

I had the same experience with my daughter. For most of my life I had that "personal secret" feeling that there would be a female in my life named Michelle. I always thought it was weird so I kept it to myself. I didn't know if it would be a girlfriend, a wife, or what ? but that name Michelle always haunted me. Then one day, 18 years ago, my wife told me the stick turned blue and we eventually found out it would be a girl. My wife is the one who picked the name Michelle. To this day right here is the only time I ever shared any of this. My wife don't even know about it yet.

It's like an Alfred Hitchcock movie. :headscratch:

Strange indeed! It's always neat to find something you forgot all about! Kewl story, and I really like the poster!

Thanks for the replies about the poster and bike. Just one thing however, the Ride For Dad sticker on my bike was there when I bought it. As chasrogers has pointed out it is a very worthwhile event that raises funds for prostate cancer. I thought about removing the sticker when I first got the bike but I ended up leaving it on. I did attend the event this year in Kingston Ontario and sponsered a bike ridden by a friend. He really wanted me to join him on the ride but the Wing was still fairly new to me at that point and I found the formation riding a little intimidating. The event consists of the riders all assembling in a spot just outside of the town. If you like you then can join in a parade ride through the downtown core to the official departure spot which was in a mall parking lot. At this point groups of bikes are sent out. Each group has a leader who uses hand signals to control the group. I believe there were 600 bikes this year. That's a lot of bikes! The route itself changes from year to year but this years route was a little over 100 miles. There is a lunch stop at the half way point and a big reception at the end of the route. It looks like a lot of fun and I do plan to participate in the ride next year. Google Ride for Dad Kingston if you are interested in checking out some pictures from this years ride. Thanks.
