 I would like to say thanks for having me on your forum, I greatly appreciate it a whole lot. Let me start by introducing myself my name is Keri but my friend's call me the humming prixil, or h.prixil for short. I have a 1983 Honda Silverwing Interstate, and she is giving me a headache, trying to figure out how to keep her running, any advice I am glad to hear them all. Thanks!!!

Welcome aboard H.Prixil. If you list a more specific group of things she is doing and not along with whatever history you know. It will be much easier for us to help. You must be our eyes and ears.

Well hello Humming Prixil and welcome to the site...I'm not sure of the Silverwing but most bikes have idle jets in the carb, those jets are more than likey clogged, or it could be your fuel filter or even a clog at the petcock that could restrict fuel so I would say it's fuel delivery.. Check your fuel pump too...

Hey it's me again, the only history on this bike known to meat this time is that it is an 83 Honda Silverwing Interstate it has 70,000kms had 9 owners, and the last owner was not able to use this bike for any pleasure riding, it was even rode in the winter. This bike sat for 9 years without running. I have gone over this bike to replace any hoses that need to be replaced as well as I had taken the gas tank off and cleaned the tank of all old gas and blew the tank to get rid of all debris. Now as far as I have been told no one has ever really did anything to this bike, so I have tuned and replaced what needed at this time. I hope this information helps you to understand what kind of troubles I am having at this time. I really want my bike running I am having the bike fever I need to get out and riding. Want to enjoy everything I have been missing, the open road, and the FREEDOM of my Passion.

How would I be able to purchase the sticker and patch, please send info. Thanks Everyone. Hope to see and meet at the Leamington meet. If I am invited, I know how to fire up the BBQ.

So it does start but not rev? Assuming the fuel tank is full of fresh gas. I suggest you add a bottle of Seafoam cleaner to the fuel. Run it what you can a few times a day. Let the Seafoam help dissolve deposits. If this doesn't clear the carbs they will need taken apart and cleaned.

Just a Check list i have used so far to start up my GL1200 that sat for 2 years untouched.

before changing oil i drained 1/2 qt of oil and added that much marvel mystery oil.
drained tank and added fresh gas along with seafoam and heet gas line antifreeze
pulled and cleaned spark plugs
put a small amount of dielectric grease in each plug boot
took air filter and cleaned it out really really well along with the air box.
took a small amount of gas and poured directly into the top of the carbs (let that sit for about 5 mins. small amount would be a few tablespoons)
used battery jump starter box and turned the key
i got nothing.
so i opened the throttle full and tried again
she fired up and immediately died. so i sprayed carb cleaner in the top and tried again
and she ran rough for about 10 minutes with me standing there with carb cleaner spritzing as needed till the new gas got to the carbs .
then i proceeded to turn off the bike and let it sit over night the next morning i placed a few rags under the carb float bowl and let it drain until all i was getting was gas.(on all 4 carbs for me)
and that is the basic steps i take to get any bike that doesn't run or hasn't in a long time, at least running enough to tell me if it is worth fixing. :heat:

oh yeah and btw welcome to the forum, I am new here too...

:thanks: Thanks Everyone for all your info, I am all geared up and ready to hit the bike and see what I can do to get this little girl up and runnin'
