The question was asked if I had pictures of my new to me 83 Interstate. I went down to the shop where she's temporarily stored and took a few pictures to share.

I was enthused to see this:

Curious what this was, Push to talk button? It's right alongside the passenger seat, on the left hand side. I couldn't locate a plug for the passenger helmet, though.

Anyway, I hope you like the pics!

I'm more stoked now than ever. The guys at the shop were great and even though they already have my money and no reason to lie, they continued waxing on about what a great bike I got. One of the young guys working there said there were a couple other guys there that were himming and hawing about buying it, so I'm double glad I moved when I did.

That is a great looking machine Mark. Congratulations. :Egyptian: :Egyptian: :Egyptian: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Nice looking wing :clapping: :clapping: Do you know :headscratch: what purpose has the round guage mounted on the middle console?I fitted an oil pressure there.

Thats the twin to my bike also.Right down to the polished stock valve covers. :good:
The 83 is an awsome bike.I believe the best goldwings built, and your interstate with the clarion is the exact way I would have bought mine new if it where still 1983.

Last night, I had the opportunity to speak to the previous owner of my bike. Keep in mind, I bought my 83 off the showroom floor of a dealership and they made contact with the PO for me.

He’s a real nice guy and he volunteered to me that the reason he traded my Wing in was because he’s a little older, with short legs and was tired of muscling that bike around. He wanted a 1500 with reverse and that’s what he did! He told me that my bike was “a great little bike”.

Better yet, he told me there is a mountain of paperwork; maintenance records, receipts, etc. that I can have if I want them. I told him I would like to meet him this weekend, talk Wings over a cup of java and collect said paperwork. I really and truly think I lucked into a keeper.

Yes you scored a good one :good:

Funny, "great little bike" :smilie_happy:

Yeah, I chuckled about that, too. Maybe compared to his 1500!

Let me start this off with; I don't normally have this kind of luck.

I finally got to meet with the PO of my bike and see his new ride. As much as I love my bike, I can see why maybe he developed a wandering eye!

He's a real nice guy and besides all the maintenance paperwork, he hooked me up with oil and air filters, a Clymer's manual and... a cover!!! I also got a tape deck carcass that I might be able to use for something.

Thumbing through the paperwork, I can safely say I believe I could ride this bike coast to coast and back without issue. All the big stuff has been done within the last 5 thousand miles. In fact, the last repair bill was pretty close to what I paid for the bike! Now, I'm knocking furiously on wood, here, but I'm more convinced than ever that I really lucked out. Doing the happy dance, here!

I am truly blessed!

Great looking bike. More bells and whistles than I'd ever use. I notice there are no side scoops on the radiator. No chin scoop either. You may want to consider adding one or the other if you ride in warmer weather.

It has the original fairing lowers which act as air scoops so it should be ok but adding the Standard model scoops do help.

Thanks for pointing that out; I never noticed! Going back and looking closer at other bikes, I see the nose scoop. Are those strictly e-bay items now, or is there a source?
