I used to ride my Harley up and down a ramp to load it into my pick-up. Well, one day it happened. While unloading, my rear tire went off the edge of the ramp and I ended up with 5 stiches in my head and a broken mirror and clutch cable perch. I decided that I was too old for such nonsense and found a better way. I modified an old bike trailer. Cut the tounge off and added two more wheels and an electric winch. I will add some pictures of it in action as soon as I get a chance. I have an eye bolt in the front center of the bed. I just hook the cable to it, attach two ramps to the tailgate with screws and push the button. No more cracked noggins! More pictures to come.

Yup, that is more than a great idea, but I have to ask... do you transport the Wing strapped down just as it is in the picture or do you add more tie downs? The crash guards are only held on with a few U-bolts, so they aren't a very strong tie-down point.

I thought GoldWings didn't like riding in pickups like Harleys and old dogs?
If mine is seen in a pickup bed - call the police! It's being stolen!

Oooh. I must admit though when I would ride the Harley with my buddy that had a wing. He would tell everyone that the wing had all those bags and boxes on it to hold the Harley parts that fell off mine.

I promised some pictures so here they are. I bought the winch on-line for less than $100. You could use cheaper wheels, like wheelbarrow wheels. These are just what I had around.

That's very similar to the rig used the first time I had to have mine towed, after I left the bolt for the ignition rotor off. They have a "cradle" that we rolled the bike up on, and strapped to it. Then winched it up on the flatbed with that, and ran straps to both sides to hold it. Worked really well.
That's a neat rig for a pick-up bed! :good: :clapping:
