Guess what I came across on Craigslist. I just got new tires delivered yesterday for my bike. Now I have a jack to help pull the wheels off so I get the new tires on. $50. like new with plastic bubble wrap still on the handle. Good timing. Now on sale at Harbor Freight for $89, normally they say lists for $119. Downloaded the manual for mine at their website. Even at $89 that's still a good deal. 1500 lb. capacity. Seems heavy duty enough. Saw another jack last week (very similar with a little wear) for $40 but the next day it was gone.

I find that pallet wood works just right under the motor. Cut a piece to fit just between the pipes. The whole thing seems kinda wobbly at first, but once you get the tiedown straps around the footpegs it becomes rock solid. :salute:

Yeah, I looked last night under the bike and saw its not a "just slide the jack under and raise it" but with wood it's do-able. It would have been "iffy" to use a standard floor jack, very iffy it not unsafe. Taking the wheels off myself is gonna save me some $ plus I'll feel more secure it's put together right if I do it myself. Glad to here it'll be stable once properly raised. Kinda a scary thought having close to 800 lbs coming down on its side once raised up. Could be bad for your health (very bad) but good for someone selling used parts I'm sure. Man that would be a mess.

I bought mine 4 or 5 years ago have used it for all kinds of stuff... transmissions ... 4 wheelers...goldwing .....generator and welder platforms...van washing platform.. even used it to help with the instillation of a transmission.. you just have to be creative... I think I bought it at Kraiggen's for $39.99... great for rising the wing up and taking the wheels off...makes quick work if it...unless you have to wait for pickup and delivery from UPS... :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

I don't mind UPS. I'm not that much in a hurry. Got a good deal on the tires (just what I wanted and save $ besides). I'm going to take the wheels off tomorrow and have them mounted and balanced next weekend. Looks like the rear wheel might be a bit of a hassle to get off. Gonna look for a post which might give me some pointers. :read:

well there is anouther way to think of it there are lots of worse ways to spend that money and that is not that bad of a price at all unless you get a deal like me and aslatk did good luck you will love it. Chasrogers
I've had my bike on that jack since Sunday. Pretty solid. Tie downs recommended and good attachment points are provided,
A couple of 2 X 4's across the rubber pads and positioned between the mufflers helped me get it up. Wait a minute. That don't quite sound right. Let's see, can I edit this?
:headscratch:
