I am very limited at this house for parking options. I have a driveway on a hill and a 3 car wide dirt spot out front by the street. No garage. No cover except under dripping pine sap tree.

I found this at costco for $189 & tax.
It's advertised 10'x20' and I think it's every bit of it.

It has a framed, zippered side door that opens as an awning which locks in 3 positions, and both ends have zippered doors and the door at one end splits down the middle making 2 halves.

Measurement at the center pole to the ground.
Measurement at the side pole to the ground.

The dirt it sits on is packed hard, and the ground is uneven, so it's not as perfect as it could be. But I'm confident it will be dry inside. It came with wire metal type tent stakes about a foot long. I think I'm gonna get some sand bags for extra security because we do occasionally get some 40-60 MPH gusty winds. Last year our 10'x12' open patio canopy took off like a kite. My son and I had to go clean up the neighbors yard. It's nice to have designated motorcycle parking, even if it ain't the best. :music: :clapping: :yahoo:
We do have 2 10'x14' metal storage sheds in the back yard and I was planning to get one for the bike, but soon realized the door is too short to get the bike through. :head bang:

I have one of those 10x10. I use those spiral dog tie out stakes and ratchet straps on each corner to hold it down. Those things they send with them suck

Camping World? Is that a chain store? Don't think we have one here. I'll be in San Dimas tomorrow.

There's a few around https://www.campingworld.com/stores/ not sure what's near you.

Oh wait, San Dimas you could swing by the Valencia store.

One of those wouldn't take the wind we have here, it moves you car around at night if you leave it out.lol My daughter moved to Oklahoma, because she couldn't take it anymore.lol

:cool!: Definitley anchor it down good, Had one like it that was anchored with 2 ft stakes and racchet straps on all the corners and she still took off went over the truck and took some siding off the back of my house, when I put it back up will be driving posts into the ground leaving 3-4 ft sticking out of the ground and sliding the legs down over them, then staking it down with rachets. If it blows away then, it can stay in the next county.

Ya but that wind makes riding the ferry fun! BTW, your new boat should be there by July! Shouldn't need reservations anymore!

Here is a pic of the new Port Townsend-Keystone ferry on sea trials:

That's the first picture I've seen of the new ferry, except in drydock. Their still going to have the reservation system in effect after the new ferry goes into operation, to cut down on the long lines backing up through town on busy weekends. Are you originally from around here? I find it strange someone from the east coast would know Port Townsend Wa. even existed.

Ahhhhh, us East coasters know much about the upper Northwest, like "it rains a bit up here"! :smilie_happy:

I oversee construction of ships and I am oversseing construction of 3 different vessels out in Seattle at the Nichols Brothers Boat Builders on Whidbey Island where the superstructure of this ferry was built. I have lots of pics as this was being built. This past week, our boat #2, a 118' high speed catamaran ferry was finished and is due to be delivered to San Francisco next week.

:eek:k: :eek:k: I'm scared now.

I'm thinking if I bury some coffee cans filled with concrete and tie off to those I might have a chance.

So...it's been 1 year this month since I put up this tent for motorcycle parking.
The wind gods were not nice. It is anchored down so it didn't fly away, but it catches wind like a giant sail.
The nylon zippers won't zip anymore and in a lot of places the stiching ripped right out of the zippers. The velcro strips that hold the corners together are a joke. You can see where I tied ropes across the front for support against the wind. We have some pretty windy days here, 10-20 mph is common, but sometimes there will be 45 mph gusts and in the past year since this tent has been up it has survived 60 mph gusts.
For the price range, the best part of this construction are the poles. I think they are quite good for the money I paid.

I could buy a new one and go through this every year. But I had this tarp come to me at no cost. It was used to cover large stacks of hay bails. With the help of my son, we rolled it out in a parking lot and it measures about 31' x 23'. It is made of thick heavy canvas with some kind of coating over it.

So my plan is to cut it down the middle, use it to go all the way down both sides of the tent, replacing the 10' high x 20' walls, and continue to wrap around the front to make 2 doorways. One solid piece for each side. I will have the end pieces that wrap around attatched to a gate for each side. I will use metal eyeholes to secure the tarp to the poles. I haven't got the tarp cut yet, but I have the gates built.

I used a flap wheel sander to hone out the hinges because the tent poles are the same size as the pvc pipe.

There seems to be no problem with the top so I'll keep that because it lets light in. All the problem seems to be on the ends where it catches all the wind. I'll only have enough new tarp to do the end that faces the street and catches most of the wind. I'll figure out what to do on the end on the back side later. The whole project is not expexcted to look as pretty when finished, but I care more about function.
