Dang, glad your OK Joe!

One of my worst fears is hitting a deer on the bike.

I remember I was driving thru some mountain roads up North, must have been just the right time of year. I'd see dear jumping off the hillside onto the road to the sides of me, then a few miles ahead I see them in the distance standing there in the road around a blind corner. I made it outa there alive and never hit anything but now every time I ride a mountain road I can't help but think of that time. main reason I don't like carving the canyons. Give me the wide open spaces anyday.

Nice move- glad you're ok-

Here in rural east Tn we have two kinds of critters that run out in front of you all the time- squirrels and deer- I don't worry about the squirrels but the deer are everywhere and where I live there is no hunting and we keep getting more and more deer- Bambi is not so cute when you hit him at 30 mph or more-

These bike will do that! I hit some coolant or oil on a freeway on-ramp once(on my 1000) that curves once, the back end washed out to my left. I remember getting off the gas and it just righted itself. To this day I swear the bike didn't wanna go down!

Daaang!! Glad o hear it was just a close call!

The most we have to dodge around here is truck gators, and a stray armored-dilly every now and then! They do have a serious deer problem down South Texas, but not so much around the big sity.
You may need one of them dad-gum deer whistles!

Yeah, thats living and feeling like your alive Joe :good:

Did I read this hear or elsewhere? "Ride hard enough to feel alive and slow enough to stay that way"

I hit wombat with a Yamaha FJ1200 about 10 years back, like riding into a stack of concrete blocks.
You can Wikapedia the wombat for photos but here in Oz we just love the description of thier habits - Wombat; eats roots and leaves

Oh yeah, rooting means having a ah um good time with a lady in Oz

thanks everyone ...the deal was i was going slow the whole way and then sped up just before seeing the deer ...it all happen fast and im glad it went well for me never play in the gravel or anything close to it know matter how close you are to home ...... :Doh2:

Sure glad u'r OK-

Can you imagine-though- carving a corner and coming up on a 10 foot gator speed bump? The 'Holy xxxx' and 'Oh xxxx' - add your own imagination!

I think I'd rather watch out for Bambi, thank you!

Glad you're OK, Joe! and I'm glad I'm in Tennessee....

Glad your okay... I once had the unfortunate experience of clipping 2 dogs at night on the interstate.. thought I made it okay then the front wheel cocked in the forks and I went down.. but this is Joe's story!! glad to hear you are upright.. HMMMM harleys are used for dirt tracking,, why did they not try the GL???
