Hey guys, Been looking at motorcycle trailers, many have those small wheels(12-13" maybe), some have no fenders as well..couple questions ..those small wheels do they travel well at 65-70 MPH or are they a 55 MPH kinda wheel, they seem like they would rock and roll over small bumps and dips and don't want an unstable trailer on the highway, also is it against highway laws to have a trailer without fenders? traveling about 1900 miles of interstate.
Would like to find a flatbed under 500 but hard to find a decent flatbed for that price, thinking a 3 rail type is what I need.
Thanks.

I think you are on the right track. 14 inch wheels do better at speeds and over bumps. My personal preference is short sided flatbed trailers.

I've used both: one with little donut wheels and one with 16". The small wheels, the trailer vibrated constantly. I didn't have that problem with the 16" wheels.

In my experience, a bigger wheel/tire and longer wheelbase equals more down the road stability.

FYI: I know you mentioned a multirail trailer but.............
U haul rents a good pulling single rail open moto trailer with a chock for cheap,

If being towed by mc make sure tongue is level with the bike. Otherwise the trailer will push the bike down the road and wiggle and waggle.

On my trip I had to replace the 12" wheels with 8" wheels after only 500 miles.

The smaller the wheels the more revolutions which usually means more heat in the wheel bearings and greater chance of failure at speed and distance
The bigger the diameter of the tire the easier it is to go over things
You need a compromise that still gives you ease of loading without premature bearing failure.
Good luck with your hunt Jeff, as you have proved with your F truck (and Oldwing parts) you always seem to eventually find those deals :salute:
