Hi to everyone, Hoping that some one can point me in the right direction. I need a mechanic or knowledgable person that can breathe life back into an 81 1100 in the SoCal (LA Claremont and ending up in Irvine-Mission Viejo area). It could be used as a fill in job as the bike doesn't need to be running until June. Standard stuff from inactivity. Clean fuel system, hose and coolant checks, brakes, timing belts etc. All stuff that I would love to be doing, but unfortunately I am Down Under. Many thanks Tony

Hi Ansimp, and welcome to the forum! If I had the space, I'd gladly take on the job, as I'm not too far from Claremont. Right now, I have nowhere to do it, since my garage is full of my 2 bikes and their parts. If I can find a way to make more space available...

How long has the bike been non-operational? Was the fuel drained - or at least shut off? Is it complete?

I've seen ads on Craigslist from a guy in Rosemead who claims to be an early Goldwing specialist with a shop, and claims to be very reasonable. I'll try to find it and let you know.

Thanks to everyone and all the best wishes. It's a little wet as some of you are aware atm we have been without power for 36hrs and doesn't look too promising for the next 36. Steve83 I hope that you can find some room soon if not another contact could be helpful. The only sure thing I know about the bike is that the last tag expired in 95.

Welcome to the CGW Forums, Ansimp!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Hope someone can help ya out...

Why not just wait and do the work yourself? Plenty of help and info here.Time to read up on the maintenance that needs caught up. Doing the work yourself helps you better understand your bike and should you have any problems on the road you are better able to repair it and be on your way.

I'm fairly close to Claremont, and I'd be happy to check out the bike and give you an idea of what it will need. If it hasn't run since '95, it's probably going to need quite a bit.

Feel free to PM me with the location of the bike, and/or contact info. I haven't been able to find the ad for the mechanic in Rosemead...
