Not new to Wings, but new to this website. Looks like a dandy. Bought my first bike, a Honda CB360 when I was 15. I've owned Honda's ever since. (if it ain't broke don't fix it) I have an 82 Interstate and an 06 Goldwing. The 82 was my very first Goldwing. I bought it brand new and have been riding it ever since. I am slowly getting into the process of refurbishing her as time allows. Sites like these sure help out. Everyone have a Merry Christmas.

Welcome to the site from New Jersey! :clapping:

We have a restoration thread you might want to check out and post a new thread on your '82 restoration process if you like!

Welcome to the CGW Forums, captaindan!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Thanks for all the welcomes.
I haven't really jumped in with both feet yet, but hoping too soon. Right now I am deciding how far to go. Part of me wants to tear every nut and bolt loose, but a fair part of the bike looks pretty decent yet. The bikes always been shedded, but a lot of wear and tear after almost 30 years.

The biggest thing, it just hasn't been ridden the last couple of years, and it's starting to show. My 1800 took over the duties and storing the 1100 isn't panning out. I've decided the best thing is to keep both bikes on the road.

It had no problems when I was riding it regularly, but things like tires, brakes, cables, carbs, fork seals, seat, etc need to be replaced and repaired. The bag and trunk lids need to be repainted, (clear coat has worn away) so may as well repaint the bags and trunk. Then I hate to have just part of the plastic repainted so include the fairing, lowers, side panels, and the false tank. Where does it stop??

Any suggestions on what you have found after being in storage or what to pay attention to would be appreciated.

Looks like you got it pretty much nailed down.

Welcome from Texas , it's GOOD to know you are still taking care of the 82 gold wing .It is just like a OLD friend , RIGHT??? :moped:

Ok, I will try to get some pics on the refurbish site. I have taken a few parts off but nothing major yet. I can set the plastic back on to get a before picture.

More like a family member Rowdy. There is something about that very first Wing. I bought it brand new and it was way above my budget making $4 an hour, but I had no doubt this was the bike for me so I made it work. I traveled on a 1980 Honda 750K prior to the Goldwing. What I remember most riding it on trips, was the sound of the Goldwings passing by. You folks know the sound. Man I was hooked. Convinced myself that it was time to save some money.

With well over 100,000 miles on her, the memories are endless. I vividly remember the really stupid things I did. (remember I was only 20 years old when I bought it LOL)
