Just like to introduce myself as I have just purchased a 1981 Interstate. I have owned several bikes over the years but I have always wanted a Wing. I do my own wrenching down to engine rebuilds however I'd like to get this bike on the road for the summer before I do a major tear down. This bike appears to be in reasonable shape for its age. Starts and runs fine but I'm sure there will be lots of things on it that will need attention. Glad I found this site because I have already found some useful tips. My first job will be to solder the yellow stator wires and get rid of the connector. Mine gets hot and appears to be melted together.

Welcome to the CGW Forums, Jcol!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
Definitely do the stator wire mod. Probably the single most cost efficient improvement you can make! :good:

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Just spent a few hours going over the bike. Soldered the stator wires and can see that the voltmeter is reading higher already. Already have a couple of questions which I'll go and post now. Thanks, Jcol.
