Hi all, Thought it would be a good idea to join here seeming how I bought my first 1980 GL a year ago and spent that time restoring it back to running condition.
Some may know the story and have seen my user name in other places. It is Zman and when I was young man I never passed an opportunity to get some sleep so friends gave me that nick name and it has been with me ever since, now days I have insomnia..LOL.
So the Interstate was bought from a gent that rode it to nearly 11K then stopped riding it in 1990 due to a thriving business. He left the fuel ON and flooded the carbs, cylinders then the gas went stale and some turned to Goo and stuck the valves open. So you can probably imagine the work that needed done but it was an untouched low mile bike that I knew would provide me with many long and happy miles and for 500 bucks I could part it out at worse.
So it is running now, runs real nice just needs to be wrung out on the highway but first tires and a front master cylinder is needed.
All of the required stuff was done, belts, carb kit, tank clean, new fluids just needs final touches.
Thanks for having me.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I`m liking the bike more each day, It is a bit to adjust to with the floor boards and such..Riding all my life and never thought I would own a touring bike, I mean...That`s what my father rode.
I came to realize I`m looking for the same thing he was. Comfort, smooth ride.

That wineberry is a pretty color..Thought mine was brown till I got it out in the light..Has some kind of purplish pearl to it. It`s a real testament to the quality of paint that it survived this long without losing it`s clear coat.
