Generally, (and I say generally) you don't have the choice here, most everywhere is 10% Ethanol, like it or not. But my bike runs good on the middle grade which is 91 octane, we have (generally again) 87, 91 & 93 unleaded with 10% ethanol.

So are you saying you bought the rats nest to the states, and didn't tell anyone???

No I did that in 2011 when he took me from Laguna Niguel to Irvine to OCHD where I hired a 2010 Road King for 2 days when we rode up to Big Sur and back. He complained immensely because I am probably 90lbs heavier than him and I made him pillion me :smilie_happy: , I told him it was good practice for him

Wilcoy the slower burn produces more power as it tries to burn more of the fuel even tho it is a slower burn. Av gas and jet fuel have MUCH higher octane ie. 115 octane thereabouts for avgas and 130+ for jet fuel be it jp4 or jp5. Also it burns more effeciently at higher altitudes (less oxygen) It would also allow you to reduce your timing if needed to a certain degree as more power is produced with the longer slower burn.

Ummm NO
Higher octane is only for high compression engines. Jet fuel is not rated in octane as it does not have a No Knock property. Jet fuel is heavy diesel and diesel is rated by Cetane.

Your post makes it look like you can run jet fuel in your MC and simply retard the timing. You cant run jet fuel or diesel in a gas engine as 99% of us know. Takes pressure/heat to burn it and a spark plug will not acomplish this. only very high compression. Jet turbine is nothing more than a big air compressor. It produces more heat than a diesel which is why you need the heavier fuel.

News flash. more advanced the timing the more power up to a point. And you need high octane when you advance timing. The slower burn does not give you more power the timing and compression do. When you lite the fuel off earlier prior to TDC it caused more pressure when the piston finaly reaches TDC causing more power on the down stroke. Its that simple.

The only avgas available anymore is 100 octane. There used to be 4 different octanes, 80, 100, 120 and 140, color coded, but not anymore. It's called 100 low lead but actually contains 4 times as much lead as the old days of leaded car gas. 2 mg per gallon as opposed to .5 mg in the old car gas. No reputable fbo at an airport will sell it to you and it's illegal in all states that I know of to run it on the road. It will also wreak havoc on the sensors in modern cars. The environmental groups are doing everything they can to get it eliminated because of the lead content. It's been an ongoing fight for a long time.
