Quite a difference from the vast majority of topics on here about strictly mechanical issues.

That's why I joined, for the mechanical stuff.

I like trikes when you're 5'3" a GL1500 isn't short person friendly. When you have arthritis in you're ankle like I do a trike is great. I can carry a lot of stuff on a trike. I can carry probably the same amount of stuff on a trike that someone can carry in a Smart Car or maybe a little more. I can pull a small trailer with a trike and the trike has a certain cool factor.

What is the fascination with Mustangs anyhow, they are mostly junk cars and ugly IMO.

Good question, but the answer will change for each responder.

I'm 67 and in good health, so I ride my 85 Interstate for fun, but I know the time is coming when I won't be able to balance the beast due to health issues that come with the "golden years". I also learned long ago the older you get, the slower you heal, so I'm no longer into showering the people behind me with sparks (but there's nothing wrong with that either).

I'm looking to trade my 86 Aspy for a trike because my wife thinks she is too heavy and unstable to ride 2 up. Leaving half the marriage at home decreases the riding enjoyment for me. :moped:

+1 on the GTX comment!!

I had a left knee replacement a while back, at first I thought my riding days may be over, at least on two wheels. I did consider a trike, but the knee and leg healed up nicely. I don't get sport bikes, and V twins, but there is a world of people that love them. I do agree that riding just isn't the same with more than two wheels, but the trike guys are still part of the motorcycle community, convertibles aren't. To me it isn't what they ride, it is that they do ride, besides, I don't wave at convertibles.

Humm odd question indeed, I will be 64 next month, in 91 I was diagnosed with cancer in my left upper leg (thigh) I had a sarcoma called Liposarcoma, at the time very virulent with a survival chance of less than 40%. At the time the surgeon removed 6 muscle groups from the inner thigh, I am still here, riding a bike, not much of a problem but when it does become a problem I will be going trike.

What I don't find relevant is what type of bike? am I a better biker if I ride Harley, no, Honda, no Yamaha, no so why does it matter, I have a sports car a Toyota Supra MK3 with a targa top, not quite cabriolet but the wind moves your hair, mine will do a 150Mph (breathed upon), my GL1000 won't, oh I have a VW a Touareg, a V10 5.0 twin turbo diesel that does about 140Mph. If I lower the windows my hair gets ruffled just the same as the Supra, but I never get ruffled hair on my bike, I wear a helmet, it get hot and sweaty in there sometimes and if I am feeling really adventurous, I wear my open face Jet pilot style helmet, that's when people notice I ride a bike, I got flies in my teeth.

Trike?
Sidecar?
Trailer?
Well, the trikes don't appeal to me at all.
I like the LOOK of a lot of the sidecar rigs, but I kinda doubt I'd
like riding one very far.
Trailer?...
I built my own trailer waaaay back in 1974 when trailers for bikes were almost
unknown. Still have that trailer. It has many thousands of miles on it.
I must have done something right, because at any speed over 10 mph or so, I
never know it's back there. Properly balanced and designed, a trailer
shouldn't adversely affect the handling of a bike. You just need to allow a
little more stopping distance when pulling it.
Just my two cents...

I made a Living all my life as a Mechanic , have owned a LOT of Motor Cycles , and a LOT of Hot Cars , and several Convertible cars . I now have the 1980 GL1100 Trike ( that I Built ) , and the 1983 GL1100 Aspencade stock , and I can tell you for sure , NO Convertible will ever give you the feeling a 2 wheel OR 3 wheel Motor Cycle . its sad but true , Old Age is a Fact unless we die before we get old . you never know what you will do ... Untill you have to make that Choice . :laptop:

I recently went on a two-up overnighter with my wife, our conclusion afterwards was if we go very far in the future we need a trailer to haul our gear in, it can always be left at the campsite. I would also love a sidecar so our daughter could come along too! And if I get too stoved-up to ride on two wheels, I'll definitely go for three! Riding is riding!
