So I'm rolling home from the gun show and my eye catches a cycle with a FOR SALE sign in a front yard. I only get a glimpse but the unmistakeable rocker cover of a Goldwing registers. U TURN!

It had been a full fairing model so he had to make a headlight mount. He did it out of a circular saw blade.

He did something I am considering doing: sawing off the mounts for the trunk and just have the side panniers. He replaced the grab bar with rebar. I called him. He says the PO put gear oil in the crankcase which broke the pump drive chain. That was fixed and cleaned out but now the engine knocks under hard acceleration. How much does he want for this?
$650
:smilie_happy:

I forgot to ask if he even had the title. Since "his friend" that he got it from only used it off road, I'm guessing no.

Offer him $200. It's gonna need a lotta work!

Yeah, $200 was about my range assuming he has the title. I've already got one to strip parts, one whole to sell, and one to get running. The wife's been quite tolerant of this. I don't want to take advantage of her willingness to indulge my madness. I think I'm as close to that line as I can get now.

Besides, it would be better for me to work on the one I already have instead of sell it. I've heard it run so I know it does. It's already here. I don't have the money to buy even more projects. It's just unwise all around. I need to focus on the ones I have. When they are all running or sold and no longer sitting in front of the garage I can go looking for the next one. I do still want a Silverwing.

Jeez, I've been a good boy and staying off cracklist to avoid temptations but I still find them.

Sonovagun. Ok, I lied, I have not stayed off cracklist. I just texted the guy to ask if he had the title (he does) and noticed I already contacted him last week! He had an ad and I sent a text then asking for pictures. I had no idea it was the same guy same bike. What are the odds of me randomly driving past it!?

Interesting front mag, I wonder if the rear matches...I could pass if only for the resale aspect..when you need to sell one they have to be exceptional to move, Enough GL`s like that all over and if you buy it cheap you`ll still have to spend hundreds to get it up to value...Even near perfect are hard to move..Takes a certain person to own/restore one. The Goldwings are particular about their owners.

I missed that. It looked like that tire was wider than standard but I thought it was just the knobbies tricking my eyes. I think it is wider. The rear is an OEM comstar.
