Hmmm take cap off radiator run it and see if it bubbles from putting air in coolant from blown head gasket ...keep it cool with a fan blowing on radiator...might be water pump seal leaking oil into radiator

Either one a pain in the ass show stopper

Joe is correct. if you don't have compression bubbling out of the radiator cap, go for the water pump. Head gasket leak would also likely get water in the cylinders and/or crankcase before oil got into the reservoir, so you have a good chance it's just the water pump oil seal.

It doesn’t have to leak at weep hole to do this ...take pump cover off hose attached check water pump shaft for play ...very simple to do as next move ...might see oil in there also

Wouldn't it be leaking out the weep hole if it's the water pump seal?

Not if the weep hole is plugged like I found mine :head bang:

Mine was plugged as well, just from the front tire kicking up road grime. These are forty year old motorcycles, after all.

For Two85s, I'd suggest checking to make sure the weep hole is clear.

Finely got a chance to dig in to this today and this is what I found!
That one is shot! So has anyone used the KP gasket sets from EPay?

I used the K&L gasket set from Amazon - $25. But I had to replace the gasket pictured because it leaked slightly. Went OEM Honda the second time. The OEM gasket was much higher quality.

Nothing else is leaking though, and most of the reviews on the K&L kit were favorable.

Just making sure I understand what the photo shows. The shaft is so loose that the impeller is making contact with the housing, right? Noob mechanics like myself may need to know this. As a noob I see most of the tech questions from this perspective and it may help others who may be unwilling to ask. That's why so many of MY posts may seem stupid to the learned here on the forums.

Omega man, you are correct! I'm hoping that the wear on the cover will not affect the new pump.

I may have a spare GL1100 water pump cover in the garage from my front transmission cover replacement. Hollar if you want me to look.
