I also have another problem with this old bike, an oil leak. I can't really see where it's coming from, but it seems to leak more when the bike sits idle for awhile, any ideas.?

gearshift seal sometime they leak out the back of clutch when the return oil hole is puged up or compeomised ...tack cable at motor in fuel pump ...mostly they dont leak much in serious ways

It seems to leak quite a bit just being parked, not running. Could this be the tach cable, by the way, mine is broken, thanks.

yes theres an o ring in there that somtimes not or just trashed ...there is no cam seal there to stop oil from the heads ...its done tis way to lube fuel pump ...tack runs there to ...the need for seal ...if its leaking mostly stoped its probably shifter seal down low where it gose in motor .. clutch leaking after running....just need to get down or raise bike enough to see whats up wings usealy tell the story on close inspection

Check the water pump weep hole. Mine is leaking there and I'll be getting a gasket repair kit and fix it. Mine was leaking when it set also. Good luck on finding the leak. Medcoman

Is this hard to fix? Just bought my bike this week, this was pointed out to me as a $50 fix in the shop. Can it be done at home, or is it too complicated for a quick fix? He said it was a seal, but if thats back in there a ways might not be an easy thing.

This was the quote I meant to post. Sorry about that. (It's only post #3)
