I know Goldwings don't leak, but mine does. It seems if you are using it regularly, it's not too bad, but if it sits for awhile, it has quite a puddle on the floor. I can't seem to track it down. The tach cable is broken, could it be coming from the motor end? It is a 1980

Put some newspaper under the bike and watch for where the oil drips from. If it's right rear of the motor it's possible it came from tach drive. If it's right or left near motor center it could be valve cover gaskets or bottom bolt of the head. Center front is possibly from the water pump weep hole. Plenty of other possibilities but this should get you going in the right direction.

Mine doesn't leak anything until after a week not riding it.
Right now I have oil on the floor from the shifter shaft seal. Occasionally it will leak from the water pump weep hole but that's after sitting for months.

Thanks, it does leak around the front, so maybe it is the weep hole. Any quick remedies for this?

None that I know of.

Only remedy I know is replace or rebuild the water pump. If the pump is otherwise okay it's possible new O rings could fix it but that still requires a lot of work. Nothing quick about it.

Funny thing, thats the same thing I have, I let it sit for a couple months and noticed a dime size drop of oil from shifter and coolant from the weep hole but if I ride it once or twice a month it drips nothing....I suppose the only cure is to ride more :good:

   Who toll you that?!?! :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

When riding, any oil/fluid leaks will be blown back onto the engine, so you prolly won't notice a drip on the floor. Once it sits, those fluids will follow gravity, and drop down where you do notice it. The key to finding the actual origin of the leak is to clean it all up nice and purdy, then ride. After the ride, look for moist, or wet areas, starting at the front. Mine also seems to pee more when sitting, but it's only because the fluid is not being distributed across the bottom of the bike while sitting. :good:
