:yahoo: WooHoo! That's right, my plan is approved. Like many of you we have a very, very tight household budget, especially in these tough times. I've had to buy very reasonably priced used parts from Dan making payments in the past, and still the wife doesn't like it when I spend money on Old Girlfriend. I dreaded the times I needed new tires, and so on. Anyway......The plan.

My approach was carefully planned and timed. In the last two moth's while I was unemployed I totally re branded myself. I got off my lazy ass and turned myself into an idealized house hubby. No longer does she have a second job of maintaining the house after work. I cook, clean, do dishes, laundry, vacuum...you name it! Tonight was the night to put forth my request. I marinated some nice sirloin steaks all day, steamed some beautiful shrimp, baked potatoes, and tossed a salad with red onion just the way she likes it......and then made my proposition. I carefully described the reasons for the need of a newer GoldWing with fewer miles(Old Girlfriend has over 300K according to what the P.O. told me and the miles I've put on her over the last 5-6 years, he also said I'm probably the tenth owner). I further explained I wanted to use the same structure we used to buy our daughters Infinity(the wife's cager) We'll save - $250 a pay-period x 6 months = $3,000 + $1,000-$1,200 from the sale of Old Girlfriend for a total sum of $4,000-$4,200. + She gets whatever is leftover(if any) after the purchase + registration/insurance.

My patience and hard work has paid off, she is totally on board with my purposal, even now she's asking me if I know what kind/color of bike I want.

And just what kind of GoldWing do I want? I tell you one thing, for this kind of money she's going to be low miles, complete and intact with everything working, and trustworthy enough so I can visit my good friend Dan Filipi in So. California. Hell I might buy my bike there...or Utah, maybe even Denver CO. where there are sooo many pretty girls for sale(GoldWings that is).

Well that's it, I'm a happy man...think I'll go offer the wife a foot rub. :yahoo:

WOW great news ~O~!! :clapping:

What kind are you think about?

I know about the housework, been part of my life for some time. Now, my wife is having neck surgery to pull two discs, plates and pins plus graft. I will be doing housework for quite some time! (At least I'm pretty well trained at it! :hihihi: )

I'm really torn here guys. I love the lines of my 82, lighter more nimble...and familiar. Then again, I want to go bigger so a 1200 is definitely in the running, more power, refinement, and the contiguous fairing, body panels and trunk are calling to me. Then there is the 1500(in white)...truly a dream machine for me...would you guys still luv me if I got one of these?

~O~

yes ...i think 1200 and 1500s are great bikes but 1100s are great too ...i must say 1500s are in a class all to there selfs and still are today ....they are truely the road eaters with unsurpassed comfort for touring

Sure we would.

In fact, my wife and I are planning our 21st in May in Vegas for the weekend.

The 1500 might be out of the question as I still need to be able to work on it myself. Most likely it'll be a 1100 or 1200...unless a deal I can't refuse for a white 1500 lands in my lap.

edit - Cool Dan, we'd love to get together with the two of you again!

What a novel approach talking to the wife about it? I use the buy it now and apologize later system but as you can imagine it has shortcomings. I have been planting pictures of the FB6 all over the house - even put one on her screensaver but this subliminal stuff just doesn't seem to catch root around here although she did say "if one shows up in the driveway it better have a bedroom in it" not sure what that means ...

A man after my own heart. I must admit I did get permission for the Rats Nest but there is a first time for everything. If only I had know that doing the dishes all the time could get a new addition to the family....

Congratulations!!
Sounds like you have put in your time working on an older machine, time to upgrade and CRUISE!
One more reason I like this site, working folks with the gumption and patience to learn while fixing their own stuff.
Hope you get the bike you have always wanted!
