Omega's Windshield happy ending...

As some of you may know, Paddy.Shadow was nice enough to offer me his gently used wraparound windshield for the cost of shipping. Well, UPS broke the windshield and then denied the damage claim(got the letter yesterday). The wife and I rode to a local casino for breakfast this morning, and after a good meal we decided to play some penny machines. I sat down to my favorite "STARWARS" penny slot and quickly won $100. I showed my winnings to the wife and heard those 9 words that I didn't dare dream of hearing, "why don't you get your new windshield with that?"

I'm not sure about you, but every time I order something (especially for the bike) I get like a kid. Anxious for sure to get it, track it if possible and the day its scheduled to arrive...I might be just a bit late to work. I'm waiting for a new helmet to be delivered right now. The last thing I got....the new windshield. Took the bike out to try it out yesterday. Picked up a few hitch hikers too (bugs). Congrats on your purchase.

I'm not sure about you, but every time I order something (especially for the bike) I get like a kid.

I'm the same way. When we stopped on the way home to load my debit card the wife said "look at you, your positively giddy" I just giggled and said "ayup."

Thanks for the compliments :thank_you: . I wish I knew the story about the previous owner. He put a lot of time and effort into the bike. It was a donation to a church and the pastor was an old neighbor of mine. It was a "non-op" for a few years. I think maybe the P.O. may have his own set of 'Wings". It was nice to get her back on the road. I think of the previous owner at times and how happy it would make him bringing his bike back to life. Sometimes I think I feel his presence. Kinda weird :shock: . That's my new windshield. 2" over standard, 8" less height than the old. I'm just looking over it now and not looking thru it like my old. I'm sure I'll appreciate it more after it warms up more. Hope to get my helmet today. Get you windshield yet ~O~?

The windshield arrived safely today, and just so you know it was shipped EXACTLY as the one Paddy sent me. The ONLY difference was one was used and one wasn't.

Here she is with new plexi!







I really like the new "bubble" and the feel on the road, I think even the stereo sounds better.

Wow, is that one of those wrap around type windshields, mine is far more narrow, looks like you will be well protected behind that shield for sure..

Looks good ~O~ :good: . You got a good shot of the windshield. I took a pix of my new shield and not enough contrast. I want to get a close-up of the edge. Nicely polished. First you thought you'd get it Friday, then Thursday, ya got it today and its installed. Not anxious are ya :yes: . I'll get my helmet tomorrow. Quite a long wait. Ordered it on the 11th. That was their "received by" date. UPS Ground, your favorite shipper :roll: Enjoy your windshield. I'm taking my bike for the longest run yet. A 150 mile round trip commute to work Friday. I'll decide then if I like the new shorter or the old longer windshield I had. Predicted 81 deg. on Friday.

I wish I could have found the wrap around replacement that was originally on my Vetter faring. Never seen one like it since! It really was a good wrap around!:

Well, after commuting with it the last couple of days, I have to say I love it. The bike just cuts through the air now, it really seems more stable especially on windy days. For $116 + $3.99(heavy part charge) + free shipping from JC Whitney it can't be beat.

Now I need to get in touch with BigAndrew and see if he wants my old one for free, then again he may like the taste of shredded bugs from that bug shredder he has on his bike. :smilie_happy:
